My boyfriend of 1 1/2 years proposed Christmas! We're starting to plan right away since we want to get married in a year. What does everyone think of getting married on a cruise ship? We want a really small wedding and can also do the honeymoon at the same time.
Best Wishes! A friend of mine had looked into going on a cruise and getting married somewhere they docked. They ended up doing something else, but I am sure if it had worked it out it would have been a blast!
Congrats! I am a fan of destination weddings but will probably not have one due to family wanting to be there/nontravellers/etc. The only thing you may want to consider is that if you have a destination wedding on a cruise or at one of the ports whoever you invite that comes will probably assume that you and your new hubby will want to do things together and you may feel obligated to do things you don't want to since you are stuck on a boat with your guests and they paid to go to your wedding. Not trying to discourage you but its something my mom mentioned when I was talking with her this week which kinda turned me off.
I agree with Aurora. If it doesn't deter you, then go ahead with the cruise ship. But when I get married, I know I'm going to want my honeymoon to be just time for my husband and me... I wouldn't want my mom just down the hall wanting to go get coffee or something!

Congratulations! I've never been on a cruise, but I think I've read they do some short ones? You could do a weekend one with whoever is invited to the wedding and then go off on your honeymoon elsewhere, or even leave at one port and then stay in a hotel, while everyone else continues on the cruise.
