I picked out dresses that I love but are a bit more than I would have wanted them to cost. They're available at Bloomingdale's in New York (where I live) though, where there is a 15% discount if you're registered there (we are) and on top of that, there is a 15% discount if the dresses are bought with a newly-opened Bloomie's card. That adds up to about 27% discount-- not too shabby.

Not all of my girls live anywhere near the New York Bloomie's, but they all have boutiques near them where they can try the dresses on if they would like.

Would it be tacky for me to open a new Bloomie's card, order the dresses for all of the girls, and ask them to pay me back? I wouldn't want to expect them to open a card on their own to get a discount (and some of them already have Bloomie's cards), but I want to make these dresses as affordable as possible.

Nope, I think they would really appreciate the extra discount. Besides you have already picked the dress so they have to buy it regardless, better to save them a little extra $$$.

I agree, I don't think that's tacky either. It's a good way to save them money -- I am sure they'll appreciate it!

Not at all.  I would appreciate my friend trying to help me save some money:).


To be on the safe side though I would let them know what your intentions are and whether they all want you to do that.  e.g. Maybe one of your BMs doesn't have a lot of cash right now due to the holidays and planned on putting it on a new no-interest cc and paying it off over a couple of months.
