buyers/sellers- list before christmas- or after?
Permalink Closed

I have a TON of stuff to list...maybe like 150 things- i kid you not.  My whole closet.  Should I rush to get it done before christmas (ie, now- and only some of it), or wait til after christmas.

Before christmas:

Pros:

in case someone is christmas shopping

still winter season

Cons:

No time for me to finish it all, and stressful

People might be too caught up to pay attention to bidding- i know i've skimped on searching ebay like i usually do

A lot of people are finished shopping for now, and don't want to think about it for a while or have spent all their money

After Christmas:

Pros:

More convenient for me

People may have Christmas money and/or time on their hands to browse eBay

Cons:

Winter season is winding up and a lot of stuff is majorly on sale

I'm kind of leaning towards early January- I'm not sure people will be bidding too much in the days right before Christmas.  Thoughts?

150 items! damn!

i voted for after christmas. even if you were on top of your game and listed everything today, a 7day listing would end on the 19th. i don't think many people would bid on items that close to christmas to give as presents.

and you might as well minimize your holiday stress...

if these are things from your closet, I doubt that they will be bought as Christmas gifts. Wait until everyone has Christmas money to spend

Glad you posted this because I am in a similar dilemma. I have about 40 items to sell and wanted to post them this weekend. I think I'm going to do it this weekend because I have a few party outfits that folks might want for new years.

I say relax and enjoy the holidays, then list them in January.

As a buyer, I know that I don't shop for myself much in December.  I like to be able to splurge on gifts.  And, in terms of timing, you'd really be pushing the limit for people who want to buy your itemsas gifts.  You'd have to do a shorter listing, or you'd have buyers wanting special shipping arrangements in order to get things on time.

i vote after- i'm going to be doing the same thing. i think most people have spent too much money by this point already this month (or maybe that's just me!)
