you can't even say that something is in the style of a designer or sell a KO saying it's a KO - I got my hand slapped and listing removed (at least I didn't get suspended):

You recently listed the following auction-style listing:

300050195527 - BLACK PURSE CHANEL STYLE CHAIN HANDLE AND TASSEL

The listing was removed because it violated eBay policy. All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has
been canceled.

A trademark is a unique sign (such as a name, word, phrase, logo, or symbol) that identifies a company's products and services. Trademark infringement is illegal, and eBay doesn't permit sellers to use a trademark in a way that confuses or misleads buyers about the source or affiliation of an item.

It's against the law to sell unauthorized replicas of brand name products. Accordingly, listings for unauthorized replicas are not permitted on eBay.

For more information on the eBay Trademark Misuse policy, please visit:

- Take eBay's brief tutorial on Intellectual Property Policies and VeRO
- Read the ended listings FAQ at
http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/vero-removed-listing.html
- Ask eBay a question using the link on the above help page

To take the intellectual property tutorial, please visit:

Please be aware that any additional violations of this policy may result in the suspension of your account. eBay understands that you may be concerned about this situation.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

eBay Trust & Safety

no no no! not crappy advice, we both thought it would be OK - live and learn, I guess.  I think I will try to change any mention of Chanel to "designer" - and if worse comes to worse, I'll sell it at a local resale shop.

there are so many knock offs out there, it's crazy. it's tiny subtleties that the average person would not be aware of. they put them out there as authentic too - at least I was honest. so, I guess the fake bags can be listed as authentic, but you can't list a fake bag as a fake bag? scary...

ETA: you know what, I'm not going to relist it as "designer" - I don't want to perpetuate the selling of fake bags on ebay - besides, it's still breaking the rules, technically, even if I do say "designer" -- not worth the risk to damage my perfect ebay standing. I'll either give it to a friend or sell it at a local resale shop.
