Buying from questionable sellers?

I wouldn't do it. Usually with a 96% rating I would go ahead and bet, but if she hasn't emailed you back yet, what happens after you've already given her your money?

Kitty, a helpful hint someone once gave me was to never to buy from anyone with a less than body temperature feedback. That said, go back and look at the nature of the negs and see if you'd still be comfortable buying from this seller.

Sometime's it's the buyer who is unreasonable not the seller and sometimes the negs are from long ago and the seller has straightened out since. Do some research and see. Good luck!

Edit: just reread and you already know she doesn't communicate well...a definite red flag IMO You could always buy insurance, make sure you request delivery confirmation (a smart way to spend for 45 cents!) and of course pay with a credit card so that you have more control over the transaction.

If you really have to have them, I'd do it but pay with paypal & keep details of the transaction. They will protect you & you'll probably get your money back if she doesn't follow through - I have had this happen to me twice & paypal sided with me (buyer) both times & gave my money back. It takes time & patrience though. So don't risk it unless you can live without the money for a good while, even if you don't get your shoes.

I'd also do everything possible on shipping - does she offer UPS ground service or something like that where you can get tracking info & is insured?

I agree with Laken. Order but use a credit card through paypal. That way you can have your credit card protection also. CC's take internet buying and fraud very seriously and will not make you pay the money until their investigation is over.

I don't know how to advise you with shipping besides get a tracking number but even that won't help you if you never get the item but it was "delivered" per ups or usps.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

She did respond to my question..it just took three days.

She does have the option to buy shipping insurance, so I may just take the risk - paying through paypal with a credit card and buying the insurance.

before you take the risk research the paypal protection policy. paypal only protects you if you purchase from sellers with at least 50 feedback and a rating of over 98% or higher. here's the link

also make sure her paypal options include using a credit card for purchases and not a bank card. If its ok to use a cc you can use their protection instead of paypal. I have on other websites buying through 3rd party sellers and I've been ok.
