Trolley or no Trolley?
Permalink Closed

We are getting married on the lawn of a private club and they have this beautiful garden area that we will be taking pictures at. The garden area is a little over a mile, so too far to walk from the cereomy site. We have a trolley on hold, but it costs $300 and when all these fees this is costing more than I wanted everything to. Just our bridal party will be going to take the pictures at the garden, which is around 20 people.

It is really cheezy to have us all get in our cars to drive to the garden? I just feel like $300 for an hour is a waste of money, but I also don't want my friends to be like what we have to drive over there now? The garden is the whole reason why we choose this place to get married at, so it is not taking pictures there isn't an option. The only benefit to the trolley besides getting us there in style, is at least there are cute photo ops. Please help? I am going crazy over stupid stuff like this. TIA!

I also wanted to add that there is only 2 mos. and 2 weeks till my wedding, so I will stop with the dumb questions soon enough! I also really appreciate all my ST girls helping me during this time because I am not sure I would have made it through! Thank you!

I am against the trolley - only b/c I was in a trolley in a cousin's wedding and it was cheesy IMO.

Having your wedding party drive such a small difference won't matter at all!  I am sure everyone will carpool together.

What about a limo instead?  That's got to be cheaper, right?  I'm not sure how much they run; its just another thing to think about.

The problem is our bridal party is too large to fit in a limo. It is so annoying, I only need it for an hour....

keep the trolley on hold, wait for a couple more weeks, see if you have enough extra $$ and then make your decision.  i think the trolley is a great idea and would have wonderful photo ops, but is not necessary.

i agree with TaraT... keep it for now, if the budget gets out of hand, cut it. I think the trolley is a fun way for you to get to spend some time with your bridal party and relax in between the ceremony and reception.

I say trolley! It is the best way to get everyone over there. I think it could be really cute and fun.

I know $$$ part sucks though, so if you really can't budget it...I don't think your wedding party would be put out by driving over there.

I voted yes, for a kind of different reason - getting your bridal party from one place to another is like herding cats.  It will be so much smoother from you to load up the trolley and drive a mile than getting people to their cars, parking at the garden, etc. etc...  Some people will be staggering behind, then you'll end up waiting for them at the garden.  With the trolley, you'll all be together and it will be much more efficient.

not that you're going to premote drinking a ton before your big day, but when i've flown somewhere to be someone's bridesmaid, 1) i hardly ever rented a car 2) i drank too much (meaning only 2-3 glasses) champagne on an empty stomach to drive 3) i honestly, didn't want to have to worry about transportation.

i think you should keep it.  also, the men are always worse about the drinking thing, so if they aren't going to be in the shape to drive, the women, certainly aren't going to want to when they are wearing poofy dresses, plus, are they going to be expected to drive those cars home after the reception?  it just seems every wedding i've been in, transportation is kinda expected to be taken care of for you.

shopgirl82- this is after the ceremony for us to go to the garden to take pictures, not for a way home from the wedding. Everyone is staying on property so there is no other driving than from Atlanta to Bluffton, so they will have cars there to travel to the garden, a trolley is just more fun, but not a neccesity. I just hate spending $300 for just an hour.

I have decided to get the trolley, mainly because I think it is lame to drive to the garden, I think a trolley will be more fun at least I can get cute pictures from it and it will be a lot with the organization too! Thanks to everyone!
