Ok, I posted a while ago that my girlfriend is getting married April 22nd and I need some help with what to wear to her wedding reception.
She sent me a link to her wedding web page on The Knot and the on-line invitation says that its at 6:30, Sat. April 22nd. The reception is at a local restuarant, buffet and for attire it says "Casual Reception". I think she wanted her colors to be white and hot pink.
I'm not really good with what to wear to Spring weddings, plus being that its casual it has really thrown me for a loop. I've only gone to Summer/Fall weddings and a few of them have been black tie. A girlfriend recommended wearing a cute jersey dress in chocolate but down dressing it with sandals/no hose. I hate being underdressed. I'd rather wear something that's dressy that you can dress down.
Any tips? Thanks!!!!

Have you checked out J.Crew's sale? They have an adorable strapless dress that is called cotton cady, and it is a couple of pink-melon colors! Then I would wear some neutral stappy heels and a fun necklace, maybe quartz like? I think you would fit in perfect, but not too casual. HTH!
where is the wedding? b/c that could be a factor too -- if it's in the south or some place where it's pretty warm in april, then any summer stuff would be totally fine.
if it's not, then i would just add a cardi or wrap to one of these cute dresses. and peep toes shoes is a great idea to make it more spring and casual.
I am really ready for it to be hot so everything that I suggest might not actually be apporiate for the weather! I am also in the south so it does get hotter here sooner.
I do think the color would be fine for the occasion but I would do a different shoe than I selected. Maybe just add a wrap for some more color or you could do black and then black shoes. HTH!
Thanks for all of the advice. JCrew has some great dresses are are totally the right idea. Not too dressy, but not too casual plus something I can wear all Summer.
What do you think of these? What about the color, is brown too drab for the wedding? Its going to be in Michigan and in April that could mean cloudy and drizzly OR balmy and partly cloudy. Its really hit or miss on the weather. Its just a wedding reception since they're getting married in the Bahamas so from what she's told me its very non-traditional and casual. What do you think of these?

i like the jcrew one best because it's so versitile. you can wear it a million times and make it different every time with accessories and shoes. it would also be easy to put a cardi or wrap over if it's cold out (while it might be hard to find something to put over some of the others.)
i like it in brown -- don't think it's too drab at all.
