ok, so i told you about my sister and her surprise wedding in 3 weeks. well a friend of mine has worked at the bellagio since it opened and she is now head of reservations. she got me the botanical garden for the ceremony for $250. i can't believe it, i am so so so so so so excited. my head is going to pop.
and as her weding gift to my sister she got her one of the big suites with dining room and a bar for $300 a night and that is where we will have the reception. one of her friends is the bartender in one of bars in the hotel and he is going to bartend for free.
this is what part of the room will look like. it is a lot bigger than this though.
so now i have spent a total of $1325 on the cerimony, the reception, and the dress so i have $600 to spend on stocking the bar and food for the reception. i am just doing ordurves, i don't know how to spell that but you get the point. and i left myself $75 for an emergency sittuation. i am so excited for her.
i totaly will. i can't believe how hooked up i got. i called my friend to see about getting just regular rooms to stay in and she was like hell no, i am doing it up for you because she and i have been friends since we were in the third grade.
my mom bought her these shoes in the cream color that the dress is in.
and my mom bought her veil. and this set fo pins for the side of her hair.
the veil is like this except it is on a comb that will go under her updo.
I would pick maybe 3-5 signature drinks to serve at the bar that way you can limit the alcohol you have to buy and definitely do fun drinks and give them personalized names after your sister and her hubby to be... Let me know if you want food ideas.
i was thinking of doing seven and seven's because they are my favorite. root beer floats, because they are my sisters favorite. long island ice tea's because they are her fiance and my husband's favorite. and cosmo's just because they are so popular right now and our families are alcoholics. and then i will get a keg.
yeah, i have no idea for the food. that is where my sister is really picky. she only eats turkey. she hates tomatos, cucumbers, and cellery. she is not a big fan of cheese either. so i have my work cut out for me there. her fiance on the other hand is the most laid back go with the flow guy. i guess he would have to be. i think i will make up something special for her and get easy food for everyone else.
For food I was thinking you could do different appetizers and hor d'euvors maybe having them set up in different areas in the room (how many people are you thinking will be there for the reception?) Then also get a cake (of course). YOu should check the knot.com vegas board for any help knotties are pretty helpful. Here is the link
my mother in law and i are doing the cake. we took a bunch of classes for cake baking and all the fancy iceing over the summer and we made my brother in law's wedding cake.
for flowers, i am just getting a boutineer for mike and a bouquet for my sister. and mikes parents are paying for that. i just have to pick them out. they are going to be black heart roses. and mikes parents are going to pay for her hair appointment as well. and mike owns his own tux. so that is all taken care of.
there will be about 30-40 people at the reception. and since it will be in vegas, the reception shouldn't be much longer than a couple of hours. about 3 i think. then my sister, darby, wants to run around in her dress. she loves it when we go to vegas and she sees the brides gambling and at the bars in there dresses. we should have a lot of fun.
