I just recently got engaged and I am looking for a little advice and it looks like you girls are experienced. I have picked the date, found the ceremony and reception site, but now I need a little help. I am having a wedding the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I don't have any ideas of on a color scheme. Any suggestions????
Well my wedding was this past November, the week before Thanksgiving and I did black dresses. My sister's wedding was also in November a few years back and she did emerald green for the bridesmaids and a burgundy color for the maid of honor, which I thought was very nice. Even though this may seem a bit obvious, I would think harvest-y colors for November. Such as pumpkin color, chocolate, burgundy, deep greens, navy, or eggplant.
ETA: Welcome and Congratulations on the engagement!
I was also married in November of last year. My color was like a garnet or burgundy. I loved it! I had always wanted a fall wedding and it was a spectacular day. The girls on this site have a lot of great wedding advice, also, I make wedding invitations so if you need any invitation advice, I would be more then happy.
Also, welcome to stylethread! I am a fellow chicago ST'er. Where do you live (city or burbs?) I am in the burbs. Nice to meet you!
Our dresses were champagne color. and all the flowers were plum, red, orange, and wine. She also threw some other jewel-tone colors in there as well. Everything was so beautiful..
Thanks for all the advice. I really like the champagne color for the dresses with the orange and red colors for flowers. Also, love the chocolate suggestion. Does chocolate look ok on blondes? I'm a brunette and it looks great on me, but all eight of my bridesmaids are blonde.
I really want darker colors for the flowers because it is a fall wedding, but I heard they make for black holes in the pictures, is this true????

I dont think thats true. Any good photographer will be able to capture the beauty of the flowers along with everything else too, no matter what the colors.
Congratulations!! Have you found theknot.com yet? It's great - it helped me soooo much. Some popular color combos are brown/pink (very classy), pink/orange, and tiffany blue, but you can see ideas for a bunch of color combos done beautifully on theknot. I'm doing red/black/white (May 13, 2006 wedding). Good luck!!

I was actually going to say the same thing. I love these colors for a fall wedding.
Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum!!
at my wedding i saved some money on the flowers by not using a lot of flowers in the center pieces. i bought some beautiful vases of all differents designs at pier one and filled them with a mazquerade mask for each person at the table and put a couple of candles and scattered rose petals. it saved me a bundle.
also if you are going to rent table linens, don't. just go to a local fabric store and buy the fabric in bulk and it is way cheaper. you can cut them yourself and just sew in the edges, or if you are going to have your table linnens pool a little on the floor you don't even have to hem them. and if you don't sew, you can buy fabric tap and tape the edges under.
i was married september 2004 and i had deep red and black. or do fall leave colors. there are some very pretty fall colored fabrics for the dresses at david's bridal if want color ideas.
