From your list...well, I'm either trendier than I thought, or A/W 2012 is all about the classics, because a lot of this stuff I would put in the category of "always in style!"
Like: *Leather *Crossbody bags. So easy and practical! *Lace! Sometimes I struggle with wearing it in a way that isn't "too pretty" but overall I really like it.
Unsure: *Hi-Lo hems I like if it's subtle and either a mini or something below the knee, but I can't get into the extreme hem changes or lengths that "frame" the knees - I think it makes them look weird! *Colored denim. Like it in theory but I haven't found any that fit me perfectly, which seems more important in a "look at these pants!" color. *Chelsea boots, at least the flat ones, I'm not crazy about. But I like heeled ankle boots, do those count? A pair from Amazon should be waiting on my porch for me when I get home today!
Dislike: *I love the look of button-down shirts with skinny jeans on other people, but I don't like collars on me. I can't decide if it genuinely doesn't look good or if it just gives me flashbacks of my high school dress code. *Blazers are another one I really like on other people, but they never look quite right on me. *Studs I like in moderation, but I've seen a LOT of pieces that I thought went overboard, and it kind of just looks like "I'm pretending to be punk rawk" to me - maybe this is also just a high school flashback! *Cap toed shoes, just never really got into this trend. I don't get the appeal.

I'm loving a LOT on this list too. In part I feel it was almost written for me LOL
* leather - I've been hunting for THE perfect jacket for three years now...the hunt continues
* Button down shirts and skinny jeans/pants/leggings - with ankle length skinnies THIS is my mom uniform
* Colored denim - I own, colbalt, grey, oxblood, red and burgundy
* Studs everywhere - On the staps of my MACs so not really...
* Blazers - I have the standard black boyfriend blazer, looking for a nice wool one in camel or something, but its not something I can get tons of use out of. I'll use them more like jackets.
* Lace - lace layered slub tees? Check!
* Chelsea Boots - not a fan
* Cap-toed shoes - If I find some cute flats they are mine!
* Color-blocking - doing it
* Crossbody bags - these are so practical, also an always carry for me
* Polka dots - love them, always have, always will!
* Black & gold together and oxblood. Oxblood I love. Black with gold jewelry is classic IMO.

Gosh. I don't feel like I'm wearing any trends this fall, but I do find that I like the skinny bottoms/button-down idea. I have trouble finding button-downs I like. I have been wanting a nice, vintagey-looking cross body, but I'm not dying for one at this time.
I want to play too! * leather -I have a leather jacket I love, but I don't really like the skirts/tops with leather inserts we see in every other fashion blog. I'd love to find a long leather coat, thrifted would be better.
* Skater skirts - Too short for my age - pass
* Button down shirts and skinny jeans/pants/leggings - I hate this look on me! But I like button down shirts with straight leg/bootcut jeans.
* Colored denim - Need a pair - either red or burgundy - or a nice violet!
* Studs everywhere - good in moderation, but I dont' have anything studded.
* Blazers - I have a black one, and I love it, but I don't need more for the kind of job I have.
* High-low hems - only if I fall in love with a piece
* Lace - need something, probably a skirt!
* Chelsea Boots - have enough boots... :(
* Cap-toed shoes - don't like/understand the look!
* Color-blocking - I am getting a bit tired of it, plus it's not my style at all.
I'm loving a lot of what they are projecting for Fall this year (now if only I can find nice versions withing my price point)
Likes
Leather- I really want a brown leather skirt. Pencil would be nice, but a slightly above the knee a-line would work too. I'm currently stalking ebay for a good one in my size. I bought an a-line black one on ebay last year and plan on wearing it again with some silk shirts and cardigans. I feel most comfortable in it with tights so thank goodness they are still "in."
Button down shirts/skinny pants- I am all over this. I have a chambray button down that pretty much goes with all my colored denim. I think it looks casual but pulled together if the fit of both the top and bottoms are right.
Colored denim- I have an oxblood pair, a teal pair and a grey pair. I'd really like a dark purple & red ones too, but like all jeans, finding a pair that fits right is a challenge.
Blazers- Love blazers. My black blazer is a go-to item in the closet. I wear it with jeans and a t-shirt causally, jeans and a silk shell for a date (this is my usual first date look actually) & a pencil skirt and cami if I need to look somewhat professional or formal (like for a wake.) It also gets a lot of use as a jacket during early Fall and late Spring. I also have a navy blue one that is quickly getting heavy rotation, a jersey blue & white striped one (so comfy) and a Kors knock off of a Channel blazer that I got for a steal on triple clearance 2 years ago.
Lace- I never considered myself a lace sort of girl, but I have this black lace dress that I bough a few years ago when the trend first started and I still love it this year. I usually only wear it for Christmas, but still, I'm getting use out of it.
Color Blocking- I kind of feel that this is a sort of made up trend. I mean, didn't we all mix colors once in a while before they labeled it "color blocking?" I know that I didn't always wear a neutral with every colored piece I own. So in or out, I'll continue to mix my colors when I feel that they work.
Cross Body Bags- What did we ever do before them???? I hope this continues for a good long time. I like having my hands free.
Poka Dots- Small doses work for me. I have a J-Crew cardi from a few years ago in black with silver foil poka dots and I still like it. I don't think I'll be adding anything new though.
Oxblood- I love this color. Every few years it come back in vogue and I remember that I really look good in it (I think a lot of women can wear this color well.) I have a few pieces already from previous years and will probably add one or two more. I'd like a skirt in it if possible.
Dislikes
Skater skirts- I like them, but the length is keeping me away. One of my resolutions for the last 2 years is to pay special attention to the lengths of my skirts (I never wore micro minis, mind you, but as someone who is now 40, even some finger tip minis can look sort of desperate if I'm not careful.) It's so difficult to figure out exactly where I fit in on the style-o-meter as to what's young & fresh and what's just some one who is trying too hard to look young.
Studs- I've never been that into studs. Ill pass.
High Low hems- I just don't "get" this look. I have a feeling that twenty years from now when they are trying to set a movie in our time period, they will fall back on this trend to pin point the decade. I'm with Kelly, I think they make the knees look weird. When I tried a dress on with this hem, it's the first time I was ever critical of my knees. I don't need something that make me second guess if my knees are ugly.
Chelsea Boots- I'm on the fence. I like the idea of a flat boot for winter, but the toe of most that I've seen is just too masculine for me (and not in a good way.)
Cap Toe Shoes- I can take or leave them. They don't bother me, but I haven't seen a pair yet that I want.
Black & Gold- way to 80's for me. Even back then it seemed kind of harsh for me.
