I'm hoping against hope that someone will know where to point me!

I've been searching for sandals once again (seems I get about one year out of a pair...but then again, I wear the heck out of them) and it's time for replacements.  In the past I've lucked into a pair of Earth sandals (they've lasted me about 5 years with a strap repair or two) that fit extremely well, and a pair of Clarks that fit well but fell to pieces, and a pair of Kenneth Cole's that barely made it to the end of summer.  The issue (aside from my wearing them hard...weather, shmeather!) is that my feet are fairly narrow and I have high arches...and long toes (so my high arches are proportionately further back).  I need a sandal with that toe grip thingie between the first and second, or I'll literally slide right through them.  No matter how tight the opening is...leather gives and my feet tend to push forward.  But, I don't want flip-flops.  My other stipulation is that they have to have an actual footbed with cushioning...none of these completely flat sandal flip-flop thingies!

I ordered...and returned almost every sandal currently available from DSW in the last two months and am hitting my frustration point. 

I definitely need a pair in black, but would like brown ones as well. 

Any suggestions?

I love my Earth sandals too.

I have some questions before I search.

By toe grip thingie, do you mean like a thong that goes between your big toe and second toe or a ridge like birkenstocks?

Since you have issues with your foot sliding forward, would you consider sandals with an ankle strap instead without a toe grip thingie? I have found ankle straps keep my foot from sliding forward, but that may not be the case for you.

Have you tried Born brand shoes? I have some that are very comfortable, but didn't want to suggest them if you've encountered fit/cushioning issues with them.

I was thinking Born too, but I know DSW carries them so maybe you've already given them a try? If not, I understand that they are well made and great for walking (well cushioned.)

You and I have exactly the opposite problem with sandals. I can't wear a thong strap (rubs me raw between the toes.) But I have wide feet and narrow heels. I'll look during my lunch and see if anything good pops out.

Thanks girls, for the quick responses! D...I'm thinking of the thong strap. Unfortunately, ankle straps don't seem to help much...they tend to be loose on me and if I add the extra hole to make them fit, then they bind in the wrong place, making it hard to bend my foot properly. I have tried Born...but only the ones I've found at DSW. I recently bought a pair of flats that are superb. But again, the sandals are just to wide.
Perhaps I need go up to a higher price point and look into sandals made specially for narrow feet?

Did a search on 6pm to be price conscious while quality conscious.  Searched only narrow offerings. Do not know your size, so some of these might not be available to you.
