Mullet skirts

I've been seeing these on-line everywhere recently.  They seem like something that only a blogger could pull off (you know, it looks edgy in the photo, IRL not so much.)  I'm not sure of the real name, but I think of them as mullet skirts.

Personally, I think they look ridiculous.  What do you think?

They look extremely unflattering (cept the second photo). They're called "high low" or "hi lo." I would never wear them bc of my figure but I could see where a taller, thinner frame could pull it off. I see it making sense in winter somehow, with knee boots and a sweater.

For reasons unbeknownst to me, I really *want* to like these type of skirts. But I just can't.

I do really like it when it's more subtle, though. Like a few inches - long enough that it's clear it's the skirt style and not poor hemming, but not so dramatic you'd notice from across the room.

Not a fan of those. I tend to like asymmetry, but I think it has to be more drapey and fit closer to the body. The fullness of those skirts doesn't work with that hem, IMO.

I would wear this perhaps

And definitely this (bad pic from Shopbop)

All I can think of when I see these is

Kate Bush and don't get me wrong. I love Kate Bush. Just the whole dancewear thing is bugging me with the (especially sheer) mullet skirt.

I would never wear it, but one of my students (who wants to become a model) wore one of these skirts the other day. She looked great but she's really tall and thin.

I guess I'm the voice of dissent here, as I kind of like some of them.

Late reply, but I have one from several years ago that I wear pretty often. But the difference between the front and back hem is not nearly that dramatic. It gets a lot of compliments, especially in fall with boots (it's a suede-y type fabric).

That reminds me. I saw a ton of these mullet skirts in Miami.

I like them much better now, having seen them on actual people and in many store fronts. I took snapshots of two mannequins in a window while I was down there (this is at Savvy Girl Boutique in Miami (Bird Rd. and Red Rd.).

I love how the magenta one is styled. Sorry for the tough to see pics.

ETA: And, enjoy the neck stretches you'll get to partake in while looking at the rotated photos. Don't know why they're like that. :-/

For some reason, that's how I see it working best - with boots sticking out.

The longer teal one doesn't bother me (maybe because it sort of looks trip proof, always a positive in my book.)
