City Vacation Shoe Search
Permalink Closed

I am looking for a ballet flat or something similar I can wear on city vacations. I am looking for something that I could wear with skirts, shorts, and dresses and that is very comfortable. Any suggestions? I found these below... does anyone own any of these shoes? Thanks!

Hi, Kel! I don't own those, but I just went to NYC. I wore my Cole Haan Air Bacaras and they were quite comfortable. Good luck with choosing some shoes. It's a difficult job to find something that is comfortable and attractive.

I agree with PJ. Cole Haan air is a great choice for nice looking walking shoes.

These are the bacara style -- I think they're really cute, they come in a ton of different colors and they use nike air technology:

I like the Cole Haan esthetically, but if you have wide feet (like me) they can be really tight in my experience. Try them on first.

Personally I just wear my metallic flats or black flats and put gel inserts into them. I also slap some band aid blister block on my heels (and keep it in my bag in case I need to reapply later.)

Agreed.  I have a pair that took like 6 months to break into because they fit narrow.  Same can be said for the top 2 pairs you posted as well, as Puma tends to fit smaller.

Is the first pair called somerhing like 'Sedelia'?  I remember trying on that shoe at DSW (or similar) and finding them SUPER comfy.

I was browsing Piperlime and found these.  Me Too shoes have always been very comforatbel on me.  And these are listed as having "advanced comfort technology", whatever that means.

I own the first pair and love them! I live in the city and wear them to walk my dog and take my son to the park. I have yet to get a blister and highly recommend them. They don't have arch support, but that hasn't been a problem for me. HTH

My go to flats right now are the Liddy style by Born. They fit my feet extremely well, but having said that, please note I have narrow feet, with long toes and high arches...so it's usually hard to find a flat where the footbed is padded in the right places. DSW, I think, carries a good selection of the BOC by Born line in their stores...most of them seem to be round-toe ballet flats. (The Liddy style has more of an almond shaped toe box.) HTH!

I love Born shoes too. They are always super comfortable, and they last forever.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations. It turns out I am having a really hard time finding shoes. My foot is too small (I wear a size 5) and if the shoe does happen to fit it fits weird. I was looking into Sperry boat shoes (kid's of course... at least they are cheaper). Does anyone have any experience with these. I hear they are pretty comfortable.

I love my Sperry boat shoes. I wore through a lace after 1 year, but I wore them a TON! I bought the traditional cut, butin gold and love them.

I actually tried on a pair of Sperry's at DSW yesterday They fit very true to size on me. I liked the construction and the cushioning. If they would have had my size in the style I liked I would have bought it.
