Every since Boots posted this pic under her post about "statement pants". I have been obsessed with them.
They are sold out now, but I could not have bought them anyway since they were close to $200. However, I love to sew, so I was thinking about making a similar pair. I have searched far and wide for some similar fabric and in all my searching I have found this brocade sateen from Emmaonesock.com. It has a little lighter background than the original pants fabric, but what do you think? Do you think this fabric would look good made up in a pair of pants?
I linked to the fabric but here is a pic:

It will be tough, I think the lighter color background takes the pants from trendy cool into weird Florida grandma territory. I'm not sure about the brocade sateen material but you'll also want to make sure the fabric has a bit of heft to it otherwise it will look awfully baggy, I think. Thus, veering into that grandma territory again.

I've got to agree that the lighter background makes it look sort of cheaper than the original. More FF21 than ShopBop. Sorry (since I'm sort of responsible for the yen in the first place.)
Thanks everyone. I kind of felt that the white sort of cheapened the look. I just wanted to be sure. Suasoria, I really like the velvet. I had not thought of that--that would be AWESOME in pants!!!

Wouldn't it?? I would throw a cocktail party just so I could wear them as part of my hostess ensemble with ballet flats, a plain white shirt and a tiny black half apron.
