Help with Vacation Packing please

We are going to Vegas in August, just the hubby and I. This is out first time going OOT alone, san kids, EVER! Its a quick trip 3 days and 2 nights. Can I get some feedback about my outifits. I know almost anything goes, but sometimes I think I'm too boring. I want casual but polished for daytime, and a bit more dressed up for nighttime activities. Here's what I plan to pack:

Packing for Vegas

Sorry for those of you who are seeing this on my Facebook too, just want to cover my bases ;)

I think your selection looks great (sorry, I know that's not much help). It looks like you have the right amount of clothes vs. accessories for your time period and they all go together well. If I had to suggest something I'd say you may want to add a "wow" piece/accessory to brighten up some of the more earthy colors or another sundress in case it's just unbearably hot, but otherwise it looks like a great selection. I'd wear all of that stuff - very J Crew.

everything looks cute, but i'd ditch the cardi - it's hot as a mofo in Vegas, even at night

The Cardi more for the plane and possible over A/C'd areas... Thanks everyone! I'm going to throw in a sexy dress to just in case we decide to get decked out one night.

Nice! I'm with you on a cardi - I'm always freezing in A/C!

Love Vegas! The casinos are really cold, so if you're anything like me, the cardi will come in handy. In Vegas you will see people in just about every type of style out there, from clubbing attire at breakfast to jean shorts and flip flops at Cir Du Solie at night. I say wear what you are most comfortable with in really hot weather and bring at least one special piece that makes you feel sexy. Then definitely wear it for a big date night with the hubby. Vegas has some amazing restaurants (let me know if you want any recs!)

Also, do you have a smaller cross body bag? It might come in handy at the casinos (a large bag will just get in your way and a clutch is too easy to get snatched or leave some where accidentally. The clutch will be cute for dinners out though.) Also, bring a comfy pair of walking shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking up and down the strip.

Thanks everyone! Boots a crossbody bag is a good thought, thanks. I have the perfect dress in mind to throw in too.
I'd love rec's for everything, dining, shows, you name it!

I found a good site that will give you reviews, menus and exact addresses.  I'll link each place I like so you can get a better idea of what you guys might enjoy.

Two good date night places:

Craftsteak is really great and one of my favorites.  . It's Tom Collichio's place.  If your husband or you love a good cut of meat, this is the place for you.  Like most "nice" restaurants in Vegas it's $$$ (think maybe $50-$80 per person depending on what you order.)

Another pricey but definitely splurge worthy place is Il Mulino.  Really good Italian food and a well thought out wine list.   Again, think $50-$80 a person plus drinks.  It's in the Forum at Ceasrs.

Aureole is very cool.  I've never eaten there, but I've stopped by to check out the wine rack.  It reaches to the ceiling and they have "wine angles' who are suspended by wires to get bottles down.  It's something to see.  My SIL (the chef) and brother ate there and told me the food didn't  justify the price.  But the wine rack is just so cool.

Less $$ (although it's Vegas so not by much)

If I had to tell you to go to one place (and you didn't want to spend the $ at Craftsteak) it would be the Mesa Grill.  Bobby Flay bugs the heck out of me on TV but his place serves amazing food.  I've eaten there a few times and never had a bad meal.

Todd English P.U.B.  Same SIL and brother ate here recently and they liked it.  It's more causual but still nice.  I really liked his place called Olives (I recomend it, but it's price and honestly, I think you could get the same quality of food at this place instead for less $) so I would imaging Todd English's other place would be equally good.  My brother said it was probably the best pub burger he's ever had.

If you're going to do a buffet (and honestly, I'd say skip it) we did the one at the MGM and it was OK.  Plenty of choices  at least.

There's a place in the Forum at Ceaser's that had a good breakfast, but I can't recall the name.  It looked like a diner and was all in white.

If you want to get off the strip, as hokey as it sounds, THe Hard Rock is a good place to do some celebrity spotting.  Plus the casino is pretty cool looking.  You'd have to take a cab because it's too far to walk.

Freemont Street downtown Vegas is cool in a retro old school Vegas way.  They also do a laser show over the street a few times a night, which is neat.  You'll have to take a cab there too, but they are both very short rides.

Have a great trip!  Vegas is always exciting.  And play a round of Wheel of Fortune for me.  I love that slot!biggrin

Re dining: I missed Mesa Grill ( Bobby Flay) ( In Caesar's Palace), but a girlfriend of mine went there a few years ago & is still raving about it, I also heard about it from other people, all loved it. Craft by T. Collichio - I went there in LA, we really enjoyed it, the decor, the food, the service.

Also, any restaurant in Wynn is good food and beautiful setting ( & $$$$).

Wynn's breakfast bouffet is GREAT! For lunch bouffet I'd also suggest Paris - they have a great selection, tasty, seafood and meats! Also, the most "pretty"bouffet of all the hotels - like you're sitting on Marmartre, the setting is very unique.

Shows: Anything by Circuq du Soleil, especially "O", "Mystere", "Lareve" & "ZUmanity".

If you can catch a star in Colliseum in Caesar's Palace - Awesome!

Also, please check out the new Cosmopolitan - they all say it's AMAZING in decor, foo, the bar is all wraped in crystal threads ( even for a drink outing)!

Have MUCH FUN!

MORE COLOR! Vegas fashion is very loud and bright and sparkly. Pack some sexy/nighttime outfits, preferably not in neutrals!

Agreed! If its the first non-kids trip you need to add a little sass, momma!

I was thinking this too, but the more hubby and I talk the more I think we won't do lounges/clubs. We'll spend our longest day on the strip, just in and out of everywhere I think. I am bringing one sexy outfit though, just in case.

Pink - we are like that too. My first thought was that you needed some more sparkly sexy outfits in there, but then I realized that if I were going with my hubby I'd probably bring all that stuff and then never end up wearing it. So, my advice is bring only what you think you will wear! If you are used to wearing neutral colors like that (as I am) vs Vegas-ey outfits, then that's what you'll pull out of your suitcase every day. Another thought - if you just stick with what you have and then feel like you need something sexy, you can use that as an excuse to buy (or have your hubby buy you) something fun/sexy to wear out. My hubby is always more likely to let me splurge on clothes when we are on a trip. Fun times!

You could throw in a sparkly accessory (like a long glitzy necklace or a pair of over the top cheapie earrings from FF21.) They're easy to pack and can make even a neutral outfit seem more Vegas.)
