A lot of pale dresses this year, but lots of red too. Jennifer Hudson has lost so much weight and she looks gorgeous. I thought Ann Hathaway looked really old -- I think it's the "highlights" at the front of her hair which I think looks dated, personnally (reminds me of Kristie Ally 15 years ago)

What's the consensus on Cate Blanchett's dress? I absolutely love it, I think it's stunning in a very architectural kind of way. But everywhere I've looked/read, it's been pretty universally panned.

I think it's appropriate for her. She always chooses dresses that are more art than just style. Other actresses couldn't pull something like that off, but she can.

The round piece in the center reminds me of a medieval breast plate and the shoulders look like armor to me. I think it would look way better with a few adjustments.
I'm with wicked. I like the idea but something about the top just seems "off" to me. This is going to sound weird but I don't like the circle thing because the circle looks hard and stiff but then within the circle it's all thin and soft (and booby, of course) and something about that juxtaposition just doesn't work for me.

I thought Mila Kunis was the best dressed of the night. That dress is just gorgeous!
I seriously HATED Nicole Kidman's look from head-to-toe. The dress is horrid, her hair looked like she just woke up and rolled out of bed, and she looks so stiff. I thought the red was pretty on Sandra Bullock, but she needed more makeup or something - she looked so tired. Cate Blanchett was pretty, and the dress was an almost for me, but that cut out in the center of the chest was just...off to me. Oh and Jennifer Hudson's boobs looked so weird in that dress to me, I just couldn't get past how they looked like two floating orbs!
I didn't see Cate move in her dress (just saw still shots), but it looks cumbersome. I want to like it, but the sleeves remind me of a dentist bib. Are the sleeves a different color from the rest of the dress? They look whiter/lighter in the pic here. I could handle the breast plate more if there was a smoother transition between that and the sleeves.
ETA: I still love her overall look, but Jen Hudson's boobs are a bit odd looking.

I loved, loved, loved Mila Kunis' dress. So pretty, although, she was looking pretty close to a wardrobe malfunction when she was presenting. Still, loved the dress. I also liked Halle Berry's dress.
And I beg to differ on Marisa Tomei - that dress is 60 years old, an original Charles James, and apparently, something she happened to own and had never worn. I loved that it was vintage, not on loan for PR purposes, and all about throwing it back to old and more glamorous times.
