Has anyone worked w/ one? I'm considering it cuz I just feel lost re: style right now. A specific question I have is what might the minimum dollar amount ($ I'm willing or able to spend) be for this to be worth the stylist's while? I know it's a free service, but I'm just a little nervous about the money part/commission. I'm thinking that it might be best to go in with a specific request or project - - so I'm not asking this person to figure out my entire fashion life. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
I was actually lucky enough to work with one as a Christmas present from my mom. My cousin has a lady at Nordstroms that she works with and loves, so I spent an afternoon with her upgrading my work wardrobe. I think she makes commission, but there was never a hard sell. I felt like she honestly wanted to help me find the most flattering items. I sent her a background email beforehand, with things like my height, weight, body shape, hair/skin/eye colors, my favorite colors, what I usually wear to work, where I usually shop, favorite designers, and things I take inspiration from. When I went in she had a ton of things pulled, mostly sale items where possible, and asked for my feedback on it. Then we dove in and started trying things on. She would go out and get different items/sizes for me, and we also walked the floor together picking out additional items. It was an amazing experience, and now I look put together and professional. For the first time in my life I feel kind of pretty, and I'm 30. I will definitely use her again, once I save up some money. I was lucky to go in with about $1,300 to spend after the money from my mom and other people for Christmas. Definitely something I would recommend!
If anyone needs a shopper at the South Coast Plaza Nordstroms in Costa Mesa, CA, let me know and I'll give you her contact info. I'm also looking for a shopper in San Jose which is where I live.
Hey Polly, just to confirm, I don't think there is a minimum amount. They should help you with whatever you have to spend. I just happened to have an insan amount of spending money...
