2011 Shopping List

In keeping with the yearly resolutions we all make about this time, I thought maybe some of you would want to join in on posting your planned expenditures for this coming year.  We can check in from time to time to see how we are doing, or add to the list.

Here's mine:

~long sleeve solid color thin tee's for layering: black, white, (not sure about other colors)

~long sleeve white scoopneck tee that's thick enough to wear on it's own

~replacement white blouses...I really need to find some that are actually flattering

~replacement red dress slacks (I miss my old ones)

~one unstructured black or bronze tote-style handbag. (all my bags are SO heavy!)

~an exotic looking but casual long skirt

~a pair of flattering sunglasses

~ a replacement pearl pendant/earring/ring set as it's my birthstone

I'll play. I am searching for:

- true red cashmere cardigan and a cobalt blue cashmere cardigan.

- red pumps that are office appropriate

- a few dresses that can easily be dressed up and down and are good for multiple seasons.

- some casual clothes for weekends that are more interesting than a plain tee

- black button down shirt that fits properly through the chest. Ditto for a white shirt.

- a few team specific tees to wear tailgating and to games (hardly high fashion, I know)

- a few new pairs of flats

- sports bras that are actually my size

I don't need much, but there are some items I have my eye open for:

- a fitted red cardi (I hear you about the true red thing GD. If I want an orange sweater, then I'll buy an orange one. Just calling it "red" doesn't make it so- I'm talking to you JCrew!)

-a pair of comfy black heels. I never have an appropriate pair when I need one, like for a funeral.

-a new pair of red flats. The ones I own are about 6 years old and have seen better days.

-a new black & white striped v-neck tee. I wore the one I own to death this summer with everything from shorts to jeans to my red pencil skirt. When you find one that's flattering, it's so versatile. I need a back up.

-A white blazer to wear over dresses and with jeans for the spring/summer.

I'll have to come back and update this; right now I can only think of a few things.

-Smaller clothes. I'm trying to lose weight, so hopefully I'll be able to buy smaller clothes :)

-A pair of black Louboutin pumps (will buy when I get a job)

-Flattering jeans (gotta stop buying Old Navy jeans - they just don't work for me).

-A white giant Balenciaga city (also to be purchased when I have a job, and therefore, have money)

-Some well-fitting bras. I really need to go get fitted - I usually guess at my size, and it doesn't work out well.

-Converse all-stars. The pair I have just developed a crack in the sole. I think I'll get a gray pair this time.

-New workout clothes - tops (other than old t-shirts), and maybe some new pants.

-A new suit - needed in case I get any interviews between now and the time I can fit into my old suit, which is too small.

-A pair of shoes for the winter that aren't Uggs. I swear, all I wear from December thru March are Uggs, and it's got to stop!

-New living room furniture - right now I have a cheapie coffee table, side tables, and entertainment center. I want some nice pieces that are solid wood and don't require any assembly. I also want to replace the passed-down navy leather lazy boy recliner I have - it's not my style at all, and I never sit in it.

- A lightweight, teal sweater with either a deep cowl or v-neck to go with the tank in the attached photos.

- Dressy black heels

- Tops made out of fabric that isn't cotton

- A better pair of skinny jeans

- New swimwear (at least:  a black bikini and a bandeau style one)

- Better loungewear

- New hoodies for next winter (I've had mine for over 3 or 4 years)

- Dressy skirts

- Cross-body bag

- Totebag that is office-appropriate

- Closed-toe black heels

- Heeled black boots

- Black silky skirt, something dressier than a pencil skirt (I just realized last night that all my black 'nighttime'/cocktail skirts are way fitted/tight/sexy and something more conservative would be a good buy)

- White button-front shirt with thin black stripes

- Classic black/white striped long sleeved tee, boatneck, nautical style, whatever that's called. I have two that are not quite right and now I want one that is.

- jeans I like that are not skinny jeans. I've been living in skinny jeans the past few months and I need some denim variety already! But I feel like I've been skinny jean brainwashed. Even my previously-adored jeans look bulky and dumpy to me now so it's hard to break out of this skinny rut.

- black v-neck cardigan. I thought I found the perfect one but after a few washes it stretched out and it isn't perfect anymore.

- new black flats! I won't need those until the spring but I wore mine to death last summer and it shows

-purple suede heels. I have some now that are awesome, but I must have kicked something because I have a pretty noticeable scrape on the toe and I probably shouldn't wear them anymore...but I can't stop because I love them!

I start my new job tomorrow which is a very conservative work environment so here is my 2011 shopping list:

1) A black dress appropriate for work and layering under cardigans and blazers

2) Another pair of nice work shoes, probably in black too

3) A large tote bag appropriate for the office (for lugging around water bottles, lunch, etc each day to office)

4) Fun jewelry to spice up my "conservative" work look!

5) Pretty floral blouses to layer under suits
