It seems as though more people are aware of this year's fall trends -- not just fashiony people. I'm seeing so much coverage of fall trends in the media.
Is it maybe that the trends are more accessible/wearable this year (military, camel, the sophisticated Chloe trouser thing, minimalism, etc.), or is it just me noticing them more (kind of like the pregnant lady syndrome (once you're prego, you notice tons more women who are too)? Who knows.
I was just thinking the same thing the other day! I don't know what it is. Maybe there are just more "high profile" trends than in years past? Because I feel like right now if you quizzed me on fall trends, I could name a bunch. If you asked me last year, I would have had no fucking clue.

I think it's a combination of the trends this year being very accessible and the desire to get people shopping again. In the past if you told people the it trend for Fall was Bohemian Chic, most people wouldn't have a clue what you meant. But if you tell them the it look is anything camel colored, most people get it. And they can buy it.

ETA. Economy is turning up. Fall is always big for fashion. This year's military/lace/etc etc are much easier to adopt than "menswear chic" or "rubber leggings". Also, there's a bigger European presence in our fashion channels, H n M is launching an online site, Asos is doing a US site with tons of marketing.

I heard that H&M is planning on expanding their on-line ordering to the US. Did you know if it's going to be in 2010 or is it still off in the future? I've been seeing TV commercials for H&M this season and I don't think that I've even seen commercials in Europe for them before.

I believe it is this year, I think next month. Woohoo! I looked at the UK site and there's not much to shop from (like if you click blouses, you get a choice of 16 shirts) but I think that's probably how most e-commerce sites started and then expanded.
Cool! I get to H&M maybe every few months because the 3 by me are either downtown or out in the suburbs. And when one is sold out of my size, it would be so much easier to order on line than make the hike to a different store. A slow roll out is better than nothing at all!
