I was checking out GAP's new Fall items and found this.  I had one of these in 1992.  Don't need to revisit it now.

I hope babydoll dresses aren't next.

Yeah, I'm not excited about the return of that look...

I think that if you did this trend the first time around, then it's a definite PASS this time around!

Oh I know. I was afraid this was going to happen.  I thought we could sneak by it.  I used to scoff at my mom when she would complain about clothes from the 1960s and 1970s coming back.  Now I understand.  I lived through the big-hair 1980s too, but nothing tops how bad the early 1990s were.  Ugh!  All I can think of is Club MTV, Ce Ce Penniston, Deee-lite, horrible baggy clothes (a la TLC), C+C Music Factory, bike shorts, and Color Me Bad. It gets worse into the mid 90s with Julia Roberts Blazers, prarie dresses, Blossom hats, mini butterfly clips...UGH!

Check out the pic that was in an email from Urban Outfitters this week.

Yeah, there was a big article devoted to grunge in the June issue of Elle. It's really creeping me out. PollyJean- You really hit the nail on the head with your list of references. Yowzer!

Ok maybe I'm the only one but all the things here make me really nostalgic. Not that I'm going to revisit the fashion that much, but baby-doll dresses and Dr.Martens still make my heart beat a little faster. I wonder if there will be a relevant way to incorporate the newer trends, I think it might be fun.

Between that shirt and the clog trend, I'm not optimistic. I just hope pallazzo pants with matching vests don't come back too. Ugh.

I had an emerald green set I wore to Christmas Eve that I was so proud of. Must have been circa 1993. I wore the vest over one of the natural silk tees (the ones that were bumpy and smelled like vitamin E) and thought I was really fashionable.

Oh yeah! - Senior pictures, 1993, black lace vest and matching palazzo pants!  Don't remember what shoes I wore, but I am afraid to know.

IPTK - I can handle babydoll dresses and Docs. I admired that style back then. Didn't get the chance to wear it in the 90s, so maybe that's why I'm ok with it now.

actually, I saw a calvin klein sheer cotton voile top with a tank under it last night and was very attracted to it...

The coolest girl in my Junior High wore shirts like that with bellbottoms that had a ruffled chiffon bell like samba pants LOL. We all thought she was the sh*t.

Just say NO to '90's looks

That's my theory about recycled fads.

I'm not against that top at all. However I think sheer fabrics have to be very nicely executed to not look cheap and tacky. (I feel the same way about lace.)

I think it's possible to do this look nicely. I have a sheer black blouse that I really like, D&G from a thrift store, and the fabric seems a lot heavier than what would be typical.

I gotta say ...

I'm wearing something pretty similar to that shirt today; also got it at the Gap. :D But I was like, ~8 years old during the 90's so I never experienced the 90's trend.

OOTD: A sheer top similar to the one posted above, skinny black jeans, and Converses because it's Sunday and I'm kickin' it at our store. Relaxin' day today. :)
