I was thinking maybe after this holiday season, but it might be sooner. I LOVE doing it, the creating and knowing my items are well received. It's just starting to take up more time than I can give it, and I worry my family's suffering.
Plus I'm going through a rough personal patch right now and my inspiration is waning...this makes me sad
you can always scale back on what you make and list. your shop can be as big or small as you want it. perhaps you limit yourself to only 3-4 hours a day to conduct etsy work, including creation, selling, shipping, etc. if you only have one or two items listed at a time, it won't be the end of the world. give it more time when you have it...

If the idea of closing the shop is making you sad, then don't close it.
I agree that scaling back is a good idea. And, if your creativity is a little low then take a break from creating for a little while. Take some time away, spend some extra time with your family and re-energize.
I'm sorry to hear about the rough patch, but having an outlet for creativity my come in handy during the rough patch too.
Best of luck in making the decision that is best for you.
D & GD said it best. Having a creative outlet is important and you truly seem to enjoy making your jewelery and hair accessories. Try scaling your work load back some and see how your family adapts. Remember that your happiness is an important part of your family too. A lot of moms just give and give to make sure everybody else is happy. You need to remember to give to yourself too.
Thanks everyone, I so agree with you Boots. I love the shop, it's a part of my heart. Right now I'm stepping back a bit. Mostly I need to learn to say no, but I love when people contact me to make something special for them. I'll be working with mostly the inventory in the shop for the moment, adding on as I feel inspired. I'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll be able to get through my personal issues and get back into full gear in the shop.
When people contact you, can you say something like "I'd love to make you a custom piece! However, I get so many requests that custom pieces take 4-6 weeks. Let me know if you are still interested."
