Mending a hole in a dress

So I brought a dress back from the cleaners and there's now a hole about the size of an earaser on the bottom about an inch from the hem.  There wasn't one there when it went to the dry cleaners, so I can only assume they did something to it.  It's not an expensive dress, but I've only worn it 3x and  fits me perfectly.  It's black and the partially lined (of course, the lining stops before the hole.) 

Do you think the dry cleaner can mend the hole?  She is my talior as well so I know she can sew.  Should I try to get them to for free or should I just suck it up and get the dress wearable again?

does it look like a cut? She can mend it, with the flat stitching, maybe even like embroidery zigzag, very tight, if it's all black & on the bottom, then it might be not that visible. Is it in the front? side? Back?

First I'd try something like Yana suggested - if the repair, would be in an inconspicuous spot.

I'd consider taking the hem up to just above the hole if you've got that much length to spare, or maybe adding a ribbon trim the whole way around the hem at the level of the hole.

That's what I was thinking. If you're a good customer and you aren't obnoxious about blaming them, they should do it for free.

Can't take it up, it's already about a half inch above the knee and the hole would make it mid thigh.

The hole is round-ish, like it was burned or worn through (only have worn it 3 times though so it can't be wear & tear.) I suspect that some chemical dropped on it and burned the hole. It's in the front to the right, but I'm hoping since the dress is full on the skirt and is black, a patch from the back might work.

I'm a good enough customer that they recognize me (I get a lot of things shortened there.) I usually go with the "you get more with honey than vinegar" response in most matters anyway. I think I'll visit the cleaners this Saturday and see if they can do anything.
