Did anyone else NOT enjoy shopping this weekend? Prom season is upon us and my goodness everything was just a mess. I continued my search for a dress for one weddding and shoes for another. Chinese Laundry 'For Keeps' I'm a matron of honour in a wedding in June and needed silver strappy sandals. This is ALWAYS an impossible search for me...read:why I don't own any yet. I bought these - in silver of course- at DSW. Clearanced at about $25. They make me about 6'2". So they totally don't 'go with' the dress, but I sort of just don't care. I'm being forced into a bright green floor length monstrosity so they won't really show. And anyways, I can't find any regular silver strappy sandals that are actually comfortable. Ok, rant over. I also bought the bridesmaid dress. Just call me the jolly green giant. This dress is quite literally the exact opposite of flattering on me. It's the color of a green traffic light, and somehow manages to make me look both flat as a board and broad as a linebacker!
leah, FWIW Naturalizer has some silver strappy sandals on their site now. I've never tried any of their strappy sandals but I would think that they'd be more comfortable than most bc they're from Naturalizer. They are more expensive though, around$60

hot shoes, LL -- however, I can't see the jolly green giantess dress
I bought these this weekend:
and I have to post these even though I bought them a couple of weeks ago:
The etsy seller described them as gold fill and didn't know if they were real opals. I could tell they were not gold filled (color, texture, craftsmanship signalled at least 14k to me), and knew those were real opals. The were listed for $12 + $3 shipping. I thought, I'm going to take a chance on these, and if they are crap, then I'm only out $15. I've been wanting some nice antique/vintage opal earrings for quite a while, and these appeared to be the quality I was looking for.
I received them. They are 10 carats of boulder opals set in heavy 14k gold. Someone must have just stored them in the box that read gold filled. I've priced them out and the retail price for earrings of this quality ranges from $1000-$2000.
They are absolutely stunning and I get so many compliments on them -- they're gorgeous and eye-catching. They have an overall blue cast with a big flash of red Picture doesn't do them justice...
I felt a little guilty that this woman sold these for so little. I went in to her other auctions and identified a couple of her antique jewelry listings for her to educate her and help her sell the items (which sold very quickly after she changed the descriptions...)

Leah- I know that bridesmaid dress. Intimately. I was basically the only one not wearing it (in purple) to my little brother's wedding last Sept. The bride told us we could prick any dress we wanted from David's in that material and in her color choice. All the other bridesmaids chose that exact dress (no accounting for taste!) I went with a different , straighter, better fitted dress and refused to let them bully me into going with the majority. Thank god. That was one of the heaviest and most uncomfortable dresses I've ever tried on.
My sympathies.
D- what a deal! Good karma indeed! And it was very nice of you to help the seller out so that she learns a little more about the items she is selling. More good karma coming your way!
I bought this American Apparel dress from Loemann's this weekend. I saw it on Beyond the Rack (or one of those sites) last week but couldn't get it in time. Found it Sunday and figured it was meant to be. Plus, who doesn't love an easy summer dress for $15?
BTW- it looks a lot classier on me. Mainly because I very rarely ever stand like that. But pairing it with a belt helps too.
I'd like to add my sympathies in regard to the green bridesmaid dress. I sincerely hope that your bouquet does not look anything like a head of cauliflower.
I got these:
As possible replacements for my beloved black mini-wedges that have been gouged and scuffed into early retirement. These are real leather and have a rubber sole, so here's to hoping they're decent in person!
