I am OBSESSED with this skirt-If i can hunt it down, I would like to wear it to my little bros college graduation in May- but I have no idea what to wear it with! (I need a top, belt and shoes.....thats as far as ive gotten- lol) Is the skirt even graduation appropriate? Any outfit ideas?

I can picture only a very high quality white tee or top in a cotton blend fabric or whatever material works---body-conscious with clean and deliberate lines, opaque. I picture a top that works with the skirt and belt so that it looks almost like a dress.
Possible necklines/shapes:
boatneck with 1/2-length sleeves
boatneck, sleeveless
Highish scoop neck with cap sleeves
Could also do a scoopneck tank in a nice fabric - - nothing too flimsy.
This might be a more casual look.
Appropriateness depends on the type of institution from which your brother is graduating, time of day, type of event(s) you'll be attending, how many people will be there, etc.
I agree on the points about time of day, etc. I'd think it would have to be somewhat dressed up - so maybe a red silk top, metallic belt/sandals? I definitely don't like how it's styled in the photo.
Personally I think it runs a risk of looking matronly so it's hard to work with for me.

there are 2 events, both at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh- 1) a saturday evening ceremony, smaller crowd (limited to just his division/school within the uni) - will dress up for this one
2) a sunday morning large school wide ceremony- would like to wear the skirt to this one, if I can dress it up enough......i tend to want to overdress for things, so i am trying something different this time
thanks so much for the suggestions so far everyone! I can use as many ideas as I can get!
