i'm looking for some closed/peep toe alternatives to ballet flats for the spring/summer- trying to veer outside of my comfort zone. what do you all think of flat espadrilles?
Im drawn to these:
do you think they would prove practical? how do you wear this type of shoe?

They aren't my thing, but I wouldn't say they're fugly. I think with the right outfit, they'd be cute!
I agree. I think you'll have to walk a fine line between casual and and too casual to make sure you don't look sloppy. But with the right outfit they could look cute.
I think it comes down to fashion vs. style with things like this - are they trendy and in fashion right now and everyone is wearing them? No. Do you sorta like them and think you could invcorporate them into your own style? Yes.
It's boring when someone is dressed head to toe on-trend. I love seeing slightly offbeat or unexpected items thrown in to someone's outfit. It always makes me think that that person is actually thinking about what they want to put on when they dress, not just if they look right according to everyone else.
That's my roundabout way of saying I dig 'em, and I think you should rock 'em!

I'm not a fan either, but it's just not my style. I think it's a little sloppy, a little juvenile, maybe because they were a trend for a split second when I was a teenager.
With espadrilles, I d recommend you to make sure it has a full sole on the bottom to make them last longer. I personally like the plain kind without any decorations to make them look authuentically and like you arent trying too hard.
I like them. My mom loves espadrilles and wears them all summer, they always look so cute. I can't wear them because I have such a high arch, they aren't comfy for me. I think they are versatile because they look good with capris, shorts or skirts.
I think they're cute and quirky. I could see them with wide leg linen pants or a full cotton skirt (like Anthro stuff). My first thought when I saw them is that they're kind of similar to TOMS. (I've been wanting a pair). I also like #3 and #8 on Down &n OUt Chic's post (Elle's link).
