Hi everyone! I have been lurking on and off for awhile because I've been busy with grad school, but I'm graduating in May and I need help finding a dress! The difficulty seems to be that so many spring dresses are super short, and I need a more conservative dress because nearly all of my professors are men over 60. I keep alternating between wanting something fun (Betsey Johnson/Marc Jacobs) and something simple/classic (JCrew), but overall my criteria are: above-knee length, fairly conservatively cut, $150 or less, and preferably spring-y (not all black). I don't have much time to look or shop because I'm trying to finish my thesis, so anything I could order online would be a plus! Thanks in advance for the help, I really appreciate it!
I know alot of dresses seem short this spring! Don't forget that you could also have one you feel is a little long shortened for only a few dollars, in most cases. I'd probably error on the side of classic if I were choosing, due to the nature of the event and the fact that it's likely to be preserved for posterity in many photographs. Tasteful but modern, and worthy of your accomplishments!
Sorry for the ginormo Anthro pic - all the reasonably sized ones are flash .
$158$98$168, also in lavender $168$148 $295 (I know some of these Ann Taylor dresses are out of your price range, but they have 40% off your entire order right now online, so, it's these prices minus 40%!)
Some of these next ones from Ann Taylor Loft are only available in few sizes online, so you might need to search through some B&M stores to find your size: $80$80 $80
I'm loving Anthro's dresses right now. I bought the third one and love it. Just barely above the knee, shows a little shoulder, but not too sexy, still very pretty
Thanks everyone! I think the second one jmango posted is my favorite, I'm just not sure I want to spend $168, but I might try and run over to Anthro today to try it on! I love the third one Elle posted from Ann Taylor Loft too, I'll have to check for my size! The red and white flowered dress from Nordstrom posted by jmango is pretty much exactly what I pictured in my head, though I'm not sure if it would be too short. I'm only 5'2 so hopefully it will be a little longer on me than the model...maybe I'll order it and see. Thanks so much guys, I love all the suggestions!
