I found a site that is like a personalized What Not to Wear styling session!

I was going through the blogroll of a new blog I found, and someone mentioned the site www.myshape.com - I clicked over, and started up an account to see what it was like.  Holy crap!  They have you do an extensive round of measurements (I was able to complete them by myself) and talk you through the whole thing.  Then they ask some questions about the sizes and styles you typically wear.  After you've completed your profile, you can look at info on your body shape and what is flattering, all based on your actual measurements!  I always have trouble determining what my actual 'body shape' is, so I found it super helpful.  From there you can create your own personal shop, full of things they think will fit you based on your actual measurements.  I'm really excited about this, because I have a terrible time buying clothing online - knowing what sizes to choose, if it will be cute on, etc.

You should go check it out - even if you never use the shopping feature, just reading the extensive spread of styling tips for your own measurements was invaluable to me!

Pretty cool. I'll have to check it out when I get home.... LOL I've been told by a local stylist I'm a pear-shape.....doh

Ya know, that's what I always thought too, and at least according to their opinion of my measurements I'm not.  It's just so hard to look at your own body subjectively!  I've been perusing through the personal 'store' the site set up for me, not to buy anything but just looking at the shapes for different items they chose for my body type is interesting.

WOW, lol, so MAYBE I'm not a PEAR after all! LOL Too funny! I didn't get a chance to measure myself last night, plus.... I'm ALL BLOATED, so.... I'll wait till that's GONE! LOL

Elle, I wanted to bump this - have you found their recommendations to be good?

I entered my info and was kind of surprised by what they came up with, and what they think I should wear, and the sizes they suggested were right. However they have some good sale prices so...I see an order in the future.

Su - I too was surprised by the items and sizes they recommended for me initially.  Though I haven't placed an order through them yet, I have purposefully looked for some things they've recommended to try on, just to see how accurate their recs are.  I've found them pretty accurate, so far.  Since they do have somewhat limited brands available it isn't as useful as it could be, but it's really nice to have at least some things/brands weeded out for you! 

I like the analysis it provokes, personally.  When I'm shopping for clothes, I tend to be drawn to certain items without thinking about if that particular item is the best one for me.  I found the recommendation of shapes and brands that were based on my actual measurements and proportions useful for that reason.

They have pretty good sales much of the time, and I get emails from them often with extra discount codes in them.  I think if they'd get some more brands on board, especially notorious sizing-offenders (Gap, BR, JCrew) I'd use it even more.
