In theory at least, this 'trend' is one that can do good things for me, being that I'm short and have short legs and high-waisted bottoms can fool the eye in that regard.
However, after all these years of wearing low/mid rise pants and skirts, I have no idea what top to wear with a high-waisted bottom. And how are you supposed to layer tops with them? It's obviously about playing with proportion, but I feel like nothing I try looks right to my eye. You don't really have a choice but to tuck your first layer, but then what? Leave it? Blouse it? Belt it? Cardi over (boyfriend, cropped, or regular length)?
So, do any of you have certain things that you like to pair with high-waisted bottoms? Or do you have any good inspiration pictures hanging around? I've played around in my closet a bit but it's getting exhausting!

While I'm not a high-waist aficionado, I have been watching them lately because I'd like to try it out (whether my belly pudge will cooperate is another story...). I think most often I see tops tucked in, then if you want to wear a belt, wear it a little lower than the waistband (sort of like a paper bag waist or whatever they're called).
I guess if you're more daring you could also wear a cropped top like this:
That's all I got. I haven't tackled the specifics of how to layer yet. Sigh.

I have a few high-waisted skirts and I wear them as styled in the first pic, but I find that I only want to wear them on my most "skinny" days - I'm more comfortable in my low waisted skirts, by far. I feel like you have to stand up straight all day and suck in your gut
