Buyer wants to return a "damaged" dress...
Permalink Closed

ok ebay veterans.  i sold a dress on ebay, never worn, tags still attatched.  i got an e-mail from the buyer saying she received it ripped at the bottom almost like it was burned (i'm pretty sure it wasn't since it has only been in my closet and worn around the house).  i insure all of my items and they are final sale.

i didn't get as much money as i wanted for the item and i'm not worried about selling it again.  i just don't want to go through all of that, since i believe it was in good shape when shipped.

she wants a refund and for me to pay for return shipping.

options:

1) refund the money (should i pay for shipping?) and resell on ebay

2) ask her to take a picture of the damage (though i don't want to her to burn a hole in it just to prove me wrong)

3) say no, it was in good condition, sales final, item was insured and shipped in perfect condition (risk losing my 100% feedback)

4) other suggestions...

thanks sooo much!!

I am a stickler and although I am super proud of my 100% feedback. I would tell her no way. If you are positive that the dress was in good shape then there is no reason you should have to refund. I am forgiving when I look for feedback too. Like one or two bad transactions are not going to hurt you terribly. Besides you did say Final Sale in the auction, right?

Let us know what you decide!

Have you checked her feedback?? I wonder if she has "done" this to other sellers. If she has complained about items being in bad condition upon reciept before, then I would think she obviously lied.

Take the negative, but very kindly state that there were no marks or damages upon shipping.  If you had a picture on the auction, damage would likely be seen since it's supposedly ripped and burned, right?

I would also say take the negative feedback. Feedback is something I definatley take in to consideration when buying from a seller, but if someone has mostly postive I will still buy from then.

Don't be held hostage to negative feedback.

Most likely it didn't fit her and she is making it up.  No refund.  Tell her to sell it herself.
