I'm going to a NYE party tonight and can't decide if I should dress up in a dress or wear jeans. It's probably going to a sea of bad jeans and polyester tops (SIL's family. How I get roped into these things....) Anyway, these are the same people who told me last spring that the reason my soon to be SIL was getting married and I was single was that i need to dress sexier. Well, I've since decided that they are idiots and I dress just sexy enough.
However, every time I have to go to an even with them, I still feel the need to take it up a notch. Just to get a burst of "yeah, I look good" to get me through the evening with them.
So do I wear the dress (which isn't over the top, but a bit on the short side) and look dressier than them or the jeans and blend in?
I'd dress up! You could always do tights with the dress to make the shorter length a little more comfortable for you.
- Says she who will be wearing jeans, and stretchy jeans at that as I plan on crawling around on the floor playing with (other people's) babies this evening in suburbia, land of the shoes-off-at-the-door rule.

I'll post a picture tomorrow. I think I looked good.
Since it was about 5 above, I went with jeans, a cute top and a black blazer with my new blue/grey suede boots. And I was still the most dressed up person there. Although I suppose that they all could have been wearing their party sweatsuits....
Oh, and Kelly, yeah. That was a fun conversation. In their defense, they were all drunk off their asses so they probably don't remember it. And all it took was a look around the room for me to realize that my SIL's family/friends have a very different idea of sexy than me. Plus I know their SOs and I think I'm going for a very different type of guy. You know, one who has taste. (OK, maybe I'm still a little bitter about the whole "let's gang up on Boots and tell her what's wrong with her" thing.)

Haha, this totally reminded me of the SATC episode where Carrie has to take off her shoes and then someone steals them. :)
