I am MOH at my sister's wedding this sunday and am starting to freak out about the toast. I really am not a fan of public speaking but it is so important to me to really show how happy I am for them/eloquently share my feelings. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
and also, should my speech be to the couple, ie. R you have been the best big sister, or about the couple, ie. R is the best big sister?
I have a rough draft written, but usually when i write anything, my sister and her fiance are my editors, i think that is why this is so hard for me, i can't ask them! help, please! Thank you all so much!
I am going to be the MOH in my sisters wedding in 13 days! I was also the MOH at my other sisters wedding about 3 years ago. For the first one we did a short poem talking about her and then her fiance and how happy he made her. This time around we are making a story book and reading it like it is a childrens book. Both speeches are under 3 minutes short sweet and to the point.
My experience is long speeches with a lot of stuff bores most people and something short and sweet is always appreciated. If you want to give a longer toast ask if you can say a few words at the rehersal dinner. I would be happy to help you if you need it.
thanks nyc shopgirl! i agree, toasts need to be short and sweet. i timed mine and it is about 3 minutes, which i think seems fine.
I am really bad at expressing feelings in person, for whatever reason, so i have always written my family notes and letters (literally, every time i leave my parents' house i write them at least a short note), so i thought that i would write the toast this way as well, what do you think? is it weird if i speak to them more than the audience in general?
i guess i just need a totally unbiased opinion of it- my friend's aren't very objective in this situation- if i posted it here or PM'ed you could you possibly read it and tell me what you think? or would anyone mind?
I'm sorry to be a pain but im only 20 and this is like, the 3rd wedding I have been to so I am so nervous! Thanks so much!
