okay this serves me right for making fun of my mom for all those years.
but i am seriously considering getting a fanny pack.... i don't know why but i feel like since i wear my beach pants alot and do alot of things around town and don't feel the need to have a purse but need something to hold money and keys...
lately, all i can think about is fanny pack or more elegantly, waist purse. i really feel like i need one. can anyone post some cute ones? i am imagining ones that lie flatter to the body not the boxy square ones that i remember my mother using when we were at disneyworld.
I did take a look around to see if by some freak chance there were actually some cute fanny packs and the only vaguely acceptable ones are logo prints which would be ridiculous with beach pants when bumming around your neighborhood!
OK that one from Urban is not too bulky and at least it's plain but still....just carry a small bag or clutch!
I vote with the other girls & I'd be really thoughtful before buying a fanny pack. However, if you can't get this idea out of your head , one of my co-workers just bought this for a vacation. It's from Boston Proper.
DID YOU GO TO AN ALL-GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL???? hehehe. when i was a freshman in h.s. the "cool" thing to have was a weaved fanny pack (like all different colored threads). i have a blue NORTH FACE one, that i have had since my freshman year. i haven't whipped it out in a while (five years). just last year, my bf's cousin who's tres stylish and lives in nyc, was wearing a Gucci one. i've seen a couple people in NYC wearing them. if you like it, rock it. i might just have to pull mine out for when i bike to the beach.

thanks everyone for the advice. i think i had a momentary lapse in fashion judgement. i knew it was wrong....... i think i was unconsciously seeking help! :)
It is so funny you posted this. i was going to post this topic myself soon.
They swear when you go to China to pick up your daughter that you need a fanny pack. We will be there for three weeks. you travel with lots of cash to pay the chinese g-ment and adoption agency ($8000) and important papers and you need to be able to keep the cash on you at all times so it doesn't get stolen (even though noone really steals in CHina, you don't want to leave that kind of cash lying around). You also need your hands free to hold the baby and tote your luggage and the baby bag and hands free to SHOP!! You do a lot of walking, etc.
I don't leave for china until January and i have already been fretting about a fanny pack. SOme of these aren't so bad though. The Urban one is kinda cute. I was also wondering in a small purse with a long strap that goes over one shoulder would work. What is the advantage of the fanny pack over that type of purse?

mikacat it sounds like what you're describing is a messenger bag, which was going to be my suggestion as well. plus, imo, messenger bags are more secure (and fashionable ) here are a few options...
Well... if after you wear it a few times and don't like it, I've seen people wear them across the chest like a messanger bag with the bag hanging low. Plus I wouldn't invest too much in something I'm unsure about. (Well I didn't exactly check what price the others were..
it's one of those things that makes me smile- so I think its fine. I like the LeSportsac one- I don't know if i'd wear those around town but I'd definitely wear it sightseeing or around Disney World or something. Somewhere where I wouldn't know anyone and it would be practical and/or cute and goofy
