I've been browsing around for some skin-tone shoes, but so many of them are either too dowdy or too tarty! I need something for an upcoming event with a 3.75 heel max, fancy enough to wear with a black satin cocktail dress.
I've found a few pairs that are nice but they have a light wooden heel, and it's totally throwing me off - I have a hard time picturing them all dressed up. I was thinking maybe a neutral animal print would be a suitable sub ... Or have I lost my mind about the wood heel? #5 and #6 are really nice options, but they instantly read more casual to me than if their heels were covered. Thoughts?
1. 2.
3. 4.
5. 6.
7. < Not beige at all but so pretty!
I know a few people were questing for nude heels maybe last spring, or thereabouts. What did you end up with?

I like #3 the best for the dress you're describing although they're not really skin-toned
I feel you about the wooden heels. I feel like they're way more casual - more like what you would wear to a bar. Especially stacked heels. I tried wearing some red pumps with stacked heels to a semi-fancy occasion once and I regretted it the whole time. I felt like my feet were underdressed.

I guess I don't understand why they even make a fancy shoe with a very unfancy heel on it. How maddening! They'd probably be perfect in the spring or summer with a sundress, but so would a covered heel and the covered heel is much more versatile IMO.
I found a really nice pair of Cole Haan peeptoe slingbacks for $40 in a lovely pearlized beige leather, and a second pair for $45 in nude patent. What did they both have? Freaking wooden heels! Gah!
I guess I thought fancy nude heels were 'the thing' these days, thanks to their leg-lengthening properties. Where ARE they, then?

I really like those, Boots (um, not the orange ones!) but I'd prefer leather over satin. We get a lot of rain here and satin tends to get ruined easily, and at least in theory I could wear a leather/patent pair both day and evening. Those in leather, maybe minus the bow, would be absolute perfection.
