Chanel bag? Help please!!

No, Chanel does not sell their bags or shoes online. Some reputable vintage or resell places (like designerexposure.com, fashionbliss.com, etc.) ever so often get secondhand stuff in great condition. I know some ladies on the board have bought on ebay with some success, but you have to be careful, as you point out. Brick-and-mortar Saks, Neimans, etc. often have a Chanel boutique. If you don't have any of those near you, perhaps, if you know which bag you want, you could call a store and have it sent? I think Chanel has a store listing feature on their site, but if not, could try and call them to find out if there is a store nearby you at all that does carry Chanel. Good luck! HTH!

Is there a Neimans or Saks close by?
If you see a bag you like in a Neimans or Saks catalog, you can order it online. I've bought two Chanel bags from Neimans this way. But there are no pictures so you have to have the catalog and the item number, etc. HTH.
