I know I should know this, but honestly I don't usually order this much online and then return it so I have no clue how this works. I took advantage of the free shipping from Piperlime and ordered 4 pairs of jeans and 4 boots...some in different sizes, knowing that I would return the ones that didn't fit. Well, the order is taking forever to ship and the $$$ has already hit my CC to the tune of about $900. I am only going to keep one pair of the jeans and probably two pairs of the shoes, but I am worried that the return won't be credited back to my CC in time. So do I have to pay the $900 so I won't be hit with a crazy overage on my credit card (I always pay off my CC in full each month) and then when the returns are refunded I'll have a negative balance? How does this work exactly? I was not anticipating the Piperlime shipping to take so long...
I've had that happen to me at BR (same shipping dept I suppose.) I just paid off my card to make sure I didn't get hit with late charges. It left me with a credit on my card, but I just used that the next month for new charges. If you are at all worried that they will take a while to ship back to PL and get credited, I wouldn't chance it.
Not a dumb question...I was actually wondering the same thing. Admittedly I'm very new to credit cards (I just finally bothered to get a real one and not just a debit card about a month ago) but could you pay the minimum balance assuming that the rest of your charges will be taken off relatively soon (whenever you return this stuff)? I guess that depends on how nice your interest rate is, and whether that would cost you a couple do-able bucks or a whole assload.

The other option is to just pay the minimium on the card. You will be charged interest on anything you don't pay. Then when your order is returned they will just credit you card, like its a payment. You will then be out whatever your interest is though.

You'll have to pay off the full balance if you want to avoid interest/finance charges.
That sucks about the slow shipping. Keep in mind it can also take 6-8 weeks for a retailer to credit your account, so if you don't pay it all off, there's a chance you'll pay interest on it two months in a row.
If you don't use the card much and don't want the credit to sit on there, you can request a check from them. In some cases they'll send it to you automatically after 30 days of inactivity.
