I only discovered Nordstrom a few months ago and went to the one at Westfarms for the first time in early April. They are having a sale on June 8-19th. Is their sale worth the 1hr drive? Do they get picked over real fast? Are their markdowns significant? Any insight is appreciated.
Nordstroms is really tough to shop at in LA. Basically in LA you have to get to the store at 7 AM and hit whatever section you want to score most in first and then pray very hard. The best stuff is gone by 9 AM the first day. I have gotten pretty good deals at the Anniversary sale though, like my Puma H-Streets for $35.
IMO the Anniversary sale in July is the one that's really worth it, because you get pretty decent (like 30-40%) discounts on all the new fall stuff that comes in.
I've worked for Nordstrom while I was in college and when I went back again for over 6 yrs time period. The Anniversary Sale is definitely the one worth the drive and prep. You can get in good with a sales rep, see the items in preview, then place the order so they will hold it and ring it up ready and waiting for you to pick up before anyone else gets to it!
The half-yearly is a big markdown sale, but I am never thoroughly impressed.
