I have some money coming to me in the next month and I want to invest in a really classic nice bag that I can use for awhile. I have never spent over $250 on a bag and need some help deciding. I really wanted a LV speedy but dont know if I am big on the loud monograms on bags, and the fact that I can't wear it over the shoulder.....that being said anyone want to give me some advice on some classy bags? Can't go over $600. Not sure on color either black, beige, or tan...just want some nice rich leather :) What would you buy??

Me personally, I would buy a vintage Chanel bag. I have come across some styles in great condition for about $600. In my opinion, they're classy and timeless.
I second the Rebecca Minkoffs. It doesn't have to be the MAB either. Some of her other styles are classic too. A good opportunity to get a better price is when Shopbop does a promo, or Bloomies.
Some of the Marc by Marc Jacobs styles have a classic feel to them also, if you want new.
You don't have to get LV bags in monogram, many come in the damier print. I have an LV bucket bag that I got from my grandmother in the damier print and one in monogram from my aunt (yes - my family may have a problem!). I ended up giving the monogram to my sister as I didn't like the idea of being covered in logos however I still use the damier from time to time as it doesn't sceam LV (to me, at least) and I like the classic look of the bag. I don't know what the price points look like these days but it might be worth a shot. And while I cringe at paying a lot of money for canvas (!) many LV bags are so classic that I think you'd use it your whole life.
