Does it make sense for me to buy a hospital gown to wear after go through labor??

something like this?

prod_500_zoom.jpg

one thing is for sure I do NOT want to wear the regular hospital gowns through out my stay in the hospital..flashing my a$$ to every visitor is not my idea of a good time.
So at min I could do what I did with my daughter which is change into regular PJ's but I'm wondering if this would be a more comfortable solution..
anyway...enough babble..
what do you all think???

Edited to add: I will probably use this after I leave the hospital....it is suppose to have slits to make nursing easier..

Not a mom, I've never been anywhere close to a woman giving birth, but from what I it's an incredibly uncomfortable experience wink.gif so I say do whatever you think will make you feel the most comfortable! Definitely a cuter option than a regular hospital gown, and of all the moments in your life, this isn't the one to scrimp on any luxury you can give yourself!

If your prior experience with it makes you feel like some more comfy clothing would make you more comfortable after the birth, then so be it!  And there's no reason you couldn't get something that could be used after you're home either - a cute PJ set or crops/top/robe set maybe?

So long as it's conducive to nursing (assuming you're nursing) then I say go for it! Only thing, and this might be TMI, is I wouldn't spend a lot of cash on something that may end up getting blood on it.

No experience with that kind of thing, but I think it's a nice alternative to a hospital gown. And hey, if it makes YOU feel better about the whole thing, then go for it! I also think that when it comes time to take pics in the hospital, you'll feel better dressed in something cute like this. :)

Oh, and holy crap! You're getting close to your due date! How exciting!!!

NO!!! NO WAY! ( I had 2 deliveries)
1-st of all, to me a hospital gown is more attractive then this lovely...whatever it is.
2nd - you won't be flashing any behind, since you most probably won't leave the bed after delivery, while you'll be sitting/laying, while people give you things you need, including your baby. If you need to get up for the bathroom - that hospital atrocity is roomy enough, so you won't be flashing anything, it goes around 3/4 of your body & fastens somewhere in the side, so when it's closed the center back is overlapped by 2 layers of fabric.
FOr my 1st delivery I bought a robe ( grey simple jersey in Gap) & didn't even wear it, but wore it at home & then took it with me for the 2nd delivery. Very decent & I'm still using it.
Seriously...don't waste your money on this ....thing.
Have an EASY DELIVERY!!!

I agree with Yana.
I have 2 kids and my ass barely got up to use the restroom while I stayed at the hospital. and then I just bought a cute robe to wear around the house.

but hey, if you really want it, go for it. But IMO I wouldn't buy it. 7years later and I'm still using the robe I bought when I gave birth to my 2nd child.

good luck!

hmm thanks for weighing in :)..
I ended up getting it anyway because I figured I could use it home too.

With my daughter I didn't wear the hospital gown after I delivered...I hated those things!! and I felt so exposed
I guess it was really a debate over whether I should just go the PJ route (what I did last time)
or this...
I found some cute PJ's too that I'll take a long for good measure.
Oh and I don't do robes..I have like 4 at home and I never wear them..for some reason they bother me hmm

Thanks again!

Kinda late to post, but glad to hear you got it. I changed into something else after labor too...something much prettier than the hospital gown. It made me feel much more comfortable for when visitors came to see the baby. Unfortunately for me, visitors started to arrive while I was in labor and didnt get a chance to change until everyone left!

I say if there's ever a time to make yourself feel as comfortable as possible, right after giving birth to you child is it! Do what makes you feel good.
