Since it seems like none of the stores near me are ever going to get these shorts, it looks like I'll be buying online, which I HATE (I'm extremely picky about how stuff fits)
Anyways, I have a few questions about what size I should go with.
(It was these shorts)
I emailed GAP to find out how long the inseam was and what the hip measurements were on two of the sizes. I was told the inseam was 4", and the hip meausurement on the size 10 was 39", and the size 12 was 40.5". My hips are approximately 38.5" wide.
For these shorts I'm specifically looking for a baggier, slouchier look, so do you think I should get the 10 or 12. I know the 10 would fit, but I don't know if they would achieve that slouchy look, and I'm unsure about the 12 because I don't want them to too big to where they're falling off. I do like my pants to sit lower, but not butt-crack low.
I know I could order both sizes and return whichever ones don't work, but I just don't want to spend $60-some dollars all at once right now. I'm willing to wait for an exchange if necessary.
I would email and ask for a waist size- and compare that to wear you want it to fall. The waist on the 12 might be way too big! Especially since things stretch out a little, and I don't know about you, but I tend to lose a little bit of weight in the summer. So I personally think you should get a 10 unless you are between sizes there, then I would size up.
Do you think going by the waist and hip sizes in their size chart would be enough? I guess I'm honestly going to have to wait until I can get home and measure myself, or a pair of pants that might be close in measurements....
I would go with the 10. I think the shorts by themselves look slouchy so I don't think its necessary to order a bigger size. The 12s would probably be too big.

You could order both and return the one you don't like to the store. Plus, I don't know how much the shorts cost, but by ordering two pairs you might qualify for free shipping too.
Thanks guys! One more quick question and then I think I'm ready for ordering .
Do you think that if I'm wearing an 8 in Old Navy shorts, that the 10 in Gap will fit the same as those? Looking at the size charts for shorts between the two, my 8 at Old Navy fits 38.5" hips and the 10 at Gap fits 39" hips. Would this be a correct assumption?
Sorry for all the questions to, this is why I usually avoid online shopping like the plague (unless I already own the same item)!

I think after all the thinking I've done today about this, I'm going to go this route. I really don't want to spend the money to get 2 pairs, but I think I will and then just go to my local Gap B&M and return the size I don't want.
I'm not sure why I didn't think of this earlier, especially since I just read that on the website last night. (Doh!)
At least they do offer to return online merchandise to the stores, even if the store isn't carrying it at that time, making it waaaaay more convenient then spending money to return it via the Post Office shipping
