Amazon used buyer question

Hi, I'm sure there's a logical answer to this, but what do you do when you buy something from a seller on amazon (in this case, a used dvd) and you feel it's not been listed correctly? If I contact them, what will they do? Refund my shipping? Do nothing?

I bought a DVD that was listed as "Very Good." The seller's notes said "Excellent condition. Ships fast." I got the dvd today and the bottom part of the case is cracked, there's a few deep scratches in the plastic on the case, and I haven't even watched the discs to see if they play correctly. It's not enough to make me want to send it back, but I'm pretty miffed that they said it was in excellent condition. To me, it should have been listed as Acceptable or Good. They should have at least made note of the condition of the case. I don't want to just jump to leaving bad feedback, because that might make the seller hostile.

Thanks!

Hmm. I guess the crack in the case I'd have to relook at the packaging and see if there was anyway it could have been damaged in shipping. If not then I might say something to them. The deep scratches were probably there before and they didn't list them out.

I'm nonconfrontational but I might send an email just saying you got it, it plays, but you didn't think they description was very true to the item. If they are a small seller they might care and offer to refund some money. If they are a large seller they probably will delete the email or say sorry and leave it at that. Then based on their response you'll know if they deserve negative feedback or neutral.

Thanks Aurora! The dvd came in a padded envelope which didn't look like it was banged up, so I am assuming that the crack was there beforehand. I'll just shoot the seller an email saying I didn't think the description was true to the item. Depending on their response, I'll know what to do. Thanks again!

Honestly, I don't know. I've been in that situation and I kind of just let it go, because it wasn't worth it for me to go through sending it back or whatever. I usually just don't leave feedback and go quietly into the night...

LOL. I think I'll still email them and if they say, hey, the case wasn't cracked when we shipped it, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I suppose it could have happened in shipping. Then maybe I too will go quietly into the night. smile
