my husband and i just moved to the atl area (gainesville-just north) and i've decided that for my bday next week, i wanted him to take me shopping to some fun boutiques in atlanta. i saw that some of you girls are from there, so i wanted to get some ideas on which shops are your favorites. i'm going to drag him around all day...so feel free to list as many as you would like!! thanks:)
i live in the va highlands so I do most of my boutiquing there. i love bill hallman! there is a website if you want a preview (www.billhallman.com) and there are 3 stores (2 in the highlands and one in little 5 points). there are some other great boutiques in both those areas but the names escape me know.
i don't get to buckhead much but blue genes is good as is k-la. they are both in the shops around lenox and are more pricey (as are most things in buckhead).
for shoes, shoemakers warehouse in amsterdam walk is good.
oh my god, i could go on and on about this. pm me if you want more info or directions anywhere. im an atlanta native and you may have already learned we are rare.
My favorites: Luna on Peachtree Rd. for all around, but not very special designers vs. what is at Neimans. Sandpiper in Vinings great CS and if you go http://www.sandpiperatl.com there are always coupons. Bilthouse in Buckhead great Preppy Chic store...my fav! Blue Genes in Buckhead next to Lenox all the jeans you can imagine! Co-op ( Barney's) at Phipps, then you can hit Saks too! Tulipano Boutique on Peachtree great all around with various prices and designers! Chelsea Parks for shoes on Peachtree, next to Tulipano.
Check out http://www.citysearch.com for directions and more ideas.... PM for anything else!
Yay! I live in Florida now for school but I am a native Atlantan and come home often. I'm actually at my parent's house now as I write this.
Here's my take:
Shopping in VA-Highlands: I love Mitzi and Romanos... they have cute stuff and always have good jewelry. There shoe store, Monkees, is a few stores down... I've never found anything there but everything is pretty affordable.
Buckhead (my stomping grounds and where there are lots of cute boutiques)- Luna is great for cute dresses and more casual stuff. Like the other girls said, Blue Genes is cool and they have great men's jeans if you husband is into that. Tootsie's is in the same shopping center and has great formal/cocktail dresses as well as casual stuff. Sage isn't that great, but everything in the store is under $100, so a lot of people really like that. If you like Lilly Pulitizer stuff, than you have to go to Pink Lemonade which is all Lilly.
Malls: I know you said boutiques, but we have some good malls. I like Lenox and Phipps... Permeter is okay but not as good as either of these.
Lenox: Neimans (it's nice, but if you're used to big Neimans than you may think ours is small), Bloomingdales (it's pretty new but has great sales and is pretty upscale), Macys (ehh). They have all the mall basics (Bebe, Arden B, Gap, Ann Taylor, Victoria's Secret, 9 West, BR, Express etc) and the specialty stores are Steve Madden, Nicole Miller (my fave), Anthro, Betsey Johnson, Club Monaco, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, St. John's, and Cartier.
Phipps: Saks (nice, but also small), Parisian (one of my favorite department stores with awesome sales), Nordstrom (it's new, but a typical Nordstrom). The specialty stores are Armani, Armani Exchange, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Tiffany, Pea in the Pod, Jil Sander, and Bill Hallmen (the best designer shoe store in town).
Don't know a whole lot about things outside the perimeter. Permeter Mall is okay, but Lenox and Phipps are far superior.
