hmm... that is an interesting question! i think you could definitely use his middle initial if that is what he goes by. monograms are getting really popular - a lot of brides that i work with are requesting them lately. usually it is best to use a "pre-marriage monogram" (just the two first name initials - or in your case your first initial and his middle) for anything you print before the wedding ceremony (ie invites), and then add the letter for your co-lastname for things printed after the ceremony (ie menus, thank you cards, etc).

Are you talking about a monogram to put on wedding invitations or towels?

I know the Southern tradition is that most of the housewares (towels, sheets, silver (if you choose to engrave), etc) is monogrammed with the Bride's maiden name initials. The idea behind this is because a long time ago, a girl began acculmulating stuff for her trousseau way before she was married. Everything my mom, aunts, and grandmothers have has their maiden intials. This is a really old Southern custom though. I like it though because I like my "SFC" and in my mother's words..."if I died and dad remarried or you dad found someone else, everything will always have MY name on it." All the barware, however, is engraved with the guy's initials.

I was thinking of stuff like on a water bottle or the label for your OOT boxes?

I am happy that SFC has enlightened me on the southern tradition, I am not orginally southern, but I am 1/2 and 1/2. I lived in Ohio for my first 14 yrs. and in GA for my latter 14 yrs... so I like that I can get some towels done now and don't need to worry. I am doing my bathroom right now and this solved another question.

OOT boxes?? What is that short for?

i believe OOT is for "out of town" - like thing you put in the hotel rooms of the guests who are coming to the wedding from farther away.

Yes the monogram would be for stuff for the out of town guests. All I know, since I will not do real planning until if is official, is that it will be in FL and my colors are pink and green, but I bet you already guessed that.
