I know some people are interested in this coverup dress, so I wanted to post a review. Like many others, I fell in love as soon as I saw this in Lucky. I even paused to consider paying the $168 plus shipping from some L.A. boutique. I love waves, it is one of my favorite patterns, so I felt a special attachment to this dress. So I was sooo happy when I found it on Girlshop (even though it was a headache- see toasts and roasts.) I got it for $125 because I had some store credit, but it is $153-ish and there's a code around I think. Well, I was pretty pleased with it. It fits really well. I ordered the small (runs XS-L I believe) and it was a good size on me, though I have to cinch the back quite a bit so it isn't too boxy. I am a 4 in Anthropologie type sizes. If you are a 2 or below, I would def. recommend the XS. I am very happy with it, though I don't know if it is worth $170+. The material feels like a really soft sheet. The pattern is brighter in person, but it is a cloudy day here so it looks sort of muted. I think the design of it is so awesome, that's why I shelled out the money. I'm a huge sucker for design. It is soft cotton, which feels nice, but there is no stretch and it wrinkles easily. Also, it is sort of an awkward length/shape to wear with jeans- I tried it and my sister agreed that something was lost. I wore it with white shorts (they were hidden so I basically wasn't wearing shorts to the naked eye) during my vacation in Jamaica and everyone agreed that it was very "Mrs. Brady goes to Hawaii." I love that retro aspect of it.
Final Note: I would give it 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. Oh- and props to Tamara Catz- the designer. When Girlshop was giving me headaches about being out of the dress, I emailed her and she got back to me right away with a friendly "Aloha!" As soon as I have money, I would def. consider buying some of her other designs. I love suporting nice people!
Thanks!! I love it- I got it for $125, which I can handle. Anything higher would have been a tad much, IMHO, but I still might have paid it because I love it!

$125. right. i DID read the entire post, i swear! you would have paid $170. you and i both know that's the truth!
Thank you for the review. Too bad that I will probably be returning it. They were sold out of XS so I ordered the S, and reading your post I am pretty confident it won't fit. I should probably just cancel it to save the shipping ($15 plus return fees), but I know I won't. I have to at least touch it and feel it.
Yep, I'm definately SOL; I put myself on the waiting list for the XS and there are 23 people ahead of me. Unless they get in a whole shipment I will never get lucky enough to get it. Pooh.
ugh lynnie! it looks so cute on you. i went to the girlshop store to try it on but they were only selling it online. i really think it looks awesome on you... and you are tempting me very much to buy buy buy! but i am trying to be good.
i guess my main negative thing with it is.. would i be able to wear this as a dress in city life? i thought about wearing it with jeans but you said that it looked weird.
thanks so much for the review! you're just making me want it more!
Dot- are you using the girlshop code? If you can spare the cash, I think its worth it for a unique little dress. hehe, then we'll be more than just Mayle friends...
