I'm going to a saturday afternoon wedding (3pm + restaurant reception) at the end of June. i'll also be reading the first lesson in church. I would like a structured dress (i am a pear shape)- but I cannot find anything that will cover my knees! its seems that most dresses are above the knee these days.....
any recs ($400 and under)?
here are some that I like- but for whatever reason cannot get (out of stock, too expensive etc)- just to give you an idea
oosdior version
also, i own this necklace- so if i could wear it with the dress- bonus! (but not necessary at all)
tia!

Don't have any recs for you but I wanted to make the point that if you are shorter than the models above, the hem will fall much lower on you so you may have to try on a dress before deeming that its too short.

thanks for the tip! Actually, i figured that would be the case since I am only 5'4", but when i went to jcrew, everything fit above the knee. poo.
I was going to suggest JCrew as they have those strapless dresses that are very similar. I also just picked up a gap dress on sale that I think is knee length. My mom is bringing it to me tonight so I can try it on and report back. It comes in black, white, and pink and is on sale for $37 in stores.
This is hard! Everything is either a maxi dress or above the knee. I think you'd have to check the length of these to see if they would be long enough.
Nordstrom:
Boden:
(is cotton and comes in other variations)
(silk-cotton blend)
Ann Taylor: (also comes in a deep blue) (also comes in brown) (comes in pink and two shades of blue) (cotton-silk)

Ok I'm 5'4ish and it is right around my knee in length.
Have you checked Marshalls or TJMaxx, by any chance? I was just at both yesterday and while I know it's notoriously hit-n-miss there, I saw some structured dresses that may fit the bill.
Hope you find something!

thanks so much for the recs everyone! I have lots of trying on/measurement reading to do.....
a) meanwhile i just made an ebay impulse purchase...the jcrew versailles shift dress...do you think this dress too white/bridal to wear to a wedding? (isnt is strange how much shorter it looks in the first pic? hmm)
b)any thoughts on the grey gingham boatneck dress in this pic(model is wearing yellow shoes)? too much white? perhaps too casual?

I love both of those dresses! I think both are appropriate.
I think the rule is no solid white dresses...

I like the JCrew one for a wedding. I agree with D, you don't want to wear a solid or mainly white dress, but the JCrew one has enough going on that it doesn't look bridal.
Personally I think the gingham dress is too casual for a wedding, but that's just me. And since you are doing a reading at the ceremony, you might want to err on the side of dressy.
I think the J Crew is totally wedding-appropriate. And agree with Boots about the gingham, you might want to err on the side of dressy if you're doing a reading. FYI I was on anntaylor.com this morning and it looks like they're doing a promotion on dresses - most if not all I looked at were 30% off.
