There are more pictures on style.com. As usual, I didn't really like the dresses/outfits, but I think it's a hard event to dress for. My favorite might be Anna Wintour! I like Elizabeth Bank's dress as well.
I think some of them pulled it off and others just look like they're trying to hard (Madonna anyone!). Thanks for posting, these are always such fun pictures to look at, not your typical red carpet looks (unless your Renee Z., boring *snooze* ).
this is my favorite event for fashion. it's the fashion industry trying to impress the fashion industry. love Anna's dress too. I actually really like Kate Moss' ensemble -- looks like she just stepped out of Studio 54 in 1977.

I agree with D, this is a great event. I haven't perused any of the pictures yet but some of these are just....too safe. I have to say that Claudia, Cindy, and Brooke STILL look amazing! I saw Madonna and immediately thought, "She must be trying to pull a SJP."
Who is this, in the black lace? I'm really not liking that!

is Madonna wearing LV? and is that a bird on her head? Not a huge fan of the *shiny* gowns, but i agree on Anna and Kates dresses. The bulbous stuff is a bit much.
Brooke, put DOWN the blusher...easy on the lipstick...there ya go, cowgirl, it's all going to be okay.
Wow.
Right? Cindy Crawford wore pretty much the same color with the long dramatic dark hair and looked FAB because she didn't overdo the makeup! Take some tips Brooke!!
i appreciate avante garde, but some of these are "..." :P
haha that's how I feel too. I do appreciate that people go all out, but I think a lot of people do come off as trying too hard or just can't pull off what they've chosen to wear. And then so many other people just look so boring. Also, I think I liked Anna's dress just because so many of the other ones screamed 80s to me. I do like Kate's outfit, although I'm already a bit sick of turbans and it didn't wow me. And I liked Claudia Schiffer's dress as well.

ITA. Although I'm having some scary flashbacks to "dyeables" at my HS prom re: Cindy's shoes. Umm, everything doesn't have to match, now that it's not the 90s anymore, Cindy.
Who is that in the last turquoise dress? That gossip girl girl? Regardless, I don't love that dress but she is gorgeous in the photo. I would love to look that comfortable on camera. (I wouldn't mind having flawless skin, being 20 pounds thinner, etc. etc. either)
It looks like Liv Tyler did a good job from what I can see in that photo of her with Kate and Stella.
Does anyone know what the parameters are for dressing for this occasion? Do they have to wear certain designers, or does it just have to be wild and crazy?

People can wear whatever they want, but obviously actresses and models tend to wear designers that they do business with (like Giselle is going to be in the new Versace campaign and wore Versace, there are rumors that Anne Hathaway could do Marc Jacobs ads and she wore Marc Jacobs). Also there was big drama this year because Azzedine Alaia felt like he was snubbed by not being included in this year's exhibit since the theme is "The Model as Muse" and he has had very close relationships with several models over the years. When he realized he was not included in the show he asked Naomi Campbell and Stephanie Seymore not to attend, even though they were already planning to go and to wear his designs.
Oh and it does seem like people often take inspiration from the theme of the show. Last year it was superheroes and there were a lot of weird spandexy and futuristic things going on and the year before when it was the Poiret show I remember a lot more vintage and vintage-inspired looks.
