This shirt is actually in stock at my local Anthro...I think it's soooooo cute. And it fits like a freakin' dream. Except I *think* I look truly s**tfaced in this shade of yellow. I have a medium complexion with golden undertones and I'm wondering if this could ever work on me. I wish this top was available in any other pastel (blue, green, pink, purple) so that I wouldn't hesitate to wear it.
I also have no idea what to wear with it besides jeans. I don't like it with black or brown pants...I don't wear khaki out of principle...
If the color really doesn't work for you, you should pass. An iffy fit is ok because it can be fixed. Color can not be changed.
But maybe you look better in the color than you think? You could try taking a picture of yourself in the shirt. Sometimes it's easier to be more objective with photos.
I used to think that I did not look good in yellow. However, I saw a ss sweater in yellow one day and a matching skirt that I thought I just had to have. I bought it with a gift card and decided to just wear it. I got the most compliments on the top and since then I have incorporated more yellow into my wardrobe. However, I am very fair-skinned and have lt blue eyes so my coloring is different that yours.
What you might want to do is to take a friend with you and tell her to give you her HONEST opinion.
are you SURE you don't look good in yellow? i actually think that your skin tone would look great with that color... but of couse it's hard for me to say... you know best.
what about wearing it with a necklace in a color that you know you look good in... you know... putting a good color for you close to your face ...or a little jacket over top? it's such a great shirt.
i think i'd go for a slightly fuller a-line skirt or wider leg trousers, even cropped trousers somewhere in the green to blue range on the bottom.
i second the advice to bring a friend for an honest second opinion on the color. also, try to get out of the dressing room area into natural light if they'll let you. dressing room lighting is always weird- anthro's is thankfully not flourescent, but it's still unnatural-looking. do you think the color would look better on you if you used a little self-tanner?
and can i just say that i LOOOOOVE that shirt? i bought it a few weeks ago, but i still haven't worn it- i can't seem to put together the perfect outfit. i'd love to see anyone else's suggestions about what to wear with it! (i also posted about this when i bought the shirt and i liked everyone's suggestions, but i haven't found anything similar in my closet yet)
When I originally tried on the shirt, I brought my older brother with me. My brother is super-honest and he's actually not colorblind so I do trust him, except he's not in town anymore and he balked long enough at the price to make me feel ashamed of looking at the shirt in the first place.
So I'm putting me and my arm fat up for public ridicule.
This is about the shade of yellow that the Anthro top is (the dress is BCBG)...thoughts?
(totally off topic, but how the heck can I be a 2-4 in BCBG pants and an 8 in their dresses, especially when these dresses only go up to like a 10)

it's not you, it's that dress!!! i always tell people before they go to the fitting room that that dress runs small (so they don't freak out...never a good feeling). i wear three different sizes there!!! also, fyi, that dress is strapless, those straps are for hanging...EVERYONE thinks it has straps. if you want, you can untie the strings hanging down and tie them around your next and make it a halter (i think it looks really cute that way). looooove the dress on you. you should definitely get the top. i had the impression that the top was super pale yellow, but that yellow looks great.

So I went to Anthro tongith with every intention of getting the shirt, and it's GONE!!!! Geez, I should get used to the idea of returning things more often.
shopgirl82: LOL I wish the SA that helped me at the BCBG had told me that the dress was strapless.... But I'm a 36C and I don't think the dress would've stayed up if I didn't use the hanging straps. But it's good to know.
