My friend is looking for a new handbag--this will be her first "nice" bag.  She has about $300 and is primarily in the market for a black bag, though brown would be okay too, and I think she would consider other colors if she really loved the bag.  Any ideas I can pass along?

Is she buying the bag for the name? I went for more classic, simple shapes since it is her first nicer bag. Sorry for the huge pics on these suggestions. The Kors comes in black, too.
