I've been thinking about getting a pair of gold flats. My primary reason for wanting these is that I want something that's a neutral (in that, it will go with almost anything I throw on), but my nude flats bother me lately because it looks like I'm barefoot from afar. I haven't had much luck finding any tan or beige flats that I like.
So my first quesiton is: are gold flats a good idea, or am I off my rocker? I mentioned this to my BF and he said that he think gold shoes sound "jersey" and trashy. So now I'm nervous, because I imagined these to be a staple.
Second: if you think they are a good idea, which pair do you like? These are the two I'm looking at (I like the tone of the first, but the shape of the second)
Edited because apparently I use all my proofreading powers at work and none at play :)

Gold flats are a neutral staple, IMO. I prefer a paler, matte gold to a shiny bold one. I agree with you about the ones on the left being a better tone and the ones on the right being a better shape. How much do you want to spend?

I'm so glad ST is here. My BF is usually a good person to consult on style issues (shhh, don't tell all the other men ) but I had to this to ST because I just knew he had to be wrong about this one. I was on the fence, but the more I look at them, I think I'll go with the Aldo ones on the left. Thanks for all your input!!

I think gold flats are super cute. I unfortunately don't have a pair but my best friend has some from Nine West and they always look great with whatever she wears. Definitely a neutral.
I love my gold flats. I had a pair from Target that lasted me 3 years and when they finally wore out, I replaced them last August with a BCBG pair because they were such a wardrobe staple for me.
