So the Stylethread tee (very cute) had me wondering is anyone owns anything from this company. I looked on the website and they have a lot of stuff, all very casual. I remember reading an article about the guy who started it all. Does anyone have any further info??
love their tees. really nice fit, nice quality. and they actually pay their garment workers not just minimum wage, but something resembling a livable salary. their Ts are cut short, though, unless there's a specific longer style that I've just been missing.
american apparel tees are fabulous...and socially-conscious! i have this top in sea blue (it's a beatiful color IRL) and i love it. it must be a longer cut for them because it's plenty long on me and i have a long torso. the low scoop back is h-o-t.
i used to work in the embellished apparel world and know a bit about the AA company. The man who founded it actually tested his first tees on strippers! i always thought that bit of info was hysterical. and it is true, they do not pay their workers min. wage but a salary that is livable and they are all manufactured here in the US. i have quite a bit of their products from working in the industry and i really like them all. i am glad that ST decided to use their products for their tees!
bex, you're right! I have long been a fan, so I was really pleased that customink.com (who did our tees) offered AA tees. The story of the company is quite compelling, and the quality is super.

pretty true i think. it's cut to fit close to the body. i think i have a medium (maybe a small? shoot, now i can't remember) and i'm a size 4-6 on top. the neck is really wide- i have narrow shoulders and sometimes it falls off my shoulders a little bit, but in a cute way. i'll double-check which size i have tonight!
I love AA tops. They are made of a pretty nice cotton and I love how they hit right at the hips on my short torso...most companies make their shirts too short or too long.
I totally love the story of the company as well and I wish other companies could be more socially conscious like AA.
Thanks for the info!! I remember reading about the founder and his philosophy (paying a living wage, etc). I am excited because the site seems very Canada friendly. I am always a little intimidated about ordering from the States because of duty charges, etc, but with this stuff, it is made in the US so no duty, plus there is a warehouse in Montreal, and free shipping over 100.00. Yay.
