i recently bought pants similar to these (also at target) but in navy. i'm stumped on how to make the outfit look cute and un-boring. the only thing that is coming to mind is a grey t-shirt, my bronze cheapy sequined flip flops and maybe some type of brown chunky necklace or bracelet. does anyone have any better ideas? i know a lot of ppl like to mix yellow with navy, but i don't know how to pull that off here.
thanks, d. the grey tee i'm thinking of is blousy with a tie on the side, so a belt wouldn't work with it, but i could do a colorful belt with a dif. grey tee - maybe yellow? i also like the idea of orange and maybe i'll add some brown to tie it in better.
I just picked these up from ATLoft (had them already in the gray, and loved them so much I went back):
I wore them yesterday with a white t-shirt and pale pastel green sweater vest with camel wedges. Last night, I changed the original pastel green sweater vest for a long-sleeve dark burgundy t-shirt. Today I'm wearing them (compelte with dog slobber on the knees!) with a bright grass green t-shirt and green flats. I've got a navy necklace on today and yesterday was a pastel blue necklace. Apparently, I've been in a blue and green mood.
Anyway, I also have plans to wear the navy pants with a purple t-shirt with a darker purple cardigan. That would have been today's outfit but I realized I bought the purple cardigan in the wrong size. I also have a great hot pink and white flowered top that I plan on wearing with light pink wedges.
So, really, I will just about any color with my navy pants. I've been trying to treat them as completely neutral and to let the top and shoes do most of the work. The only color I probably wouldn't do is red because for some reason I feel really silly wearing anything even close to patriotic colors.
Below are some colors that I think would work really well with navy:

I have a navy blue skirt that I wear a lot in the summer. I love to mix greens, purples, yellows, & corals with it. I went looking for examples of things I'd pair with it (I may try some of these with my skirt too now that I'm thinking about it.)
thanks, boots and relrel - you've given me a ton of ideas!!! i esp. like the idea of green - and i should go ahead and order that j crew tank before it's OOS. thanks again - i'm sure i will refer to this post again for ideas!
